I don't know if this annoying tab is just on certain websites or whether something got downloaded to my browser. How do you get rid of this annoying tab that blocks page content (see long tab on left on my screenshot of B&H photo)? TIA.

go to settings > extensions on google chrome and see if you installed any extensions... I would say it's just the website (try with different browsers and see)

If you can't find any extensions installed then you can get an extension that blocks social media sharing options, I haven't used it personally but this should do the trick:
