There's the JDS C5/C5D, a great amp and comes with red as well suiting the color of the AD's... But i would recommend more a iBasso DX100 player for ergonomics, imaging  and amping as well.

I've got nothing but love for my Alpha Dogs. Thanks Dan for making such a great product.

Besides the iFi iDSD Micro, anyone know of a small enough amp that I can bring with me for a month to Asia? Picked up the Magni 2 Uber this weekend and I didn't like it much. Let me know! :)

I loved my Cypher Labs Duet!! I traded it for the Alphas though… I love the Alphas even more

It's been a good week for Alpha Dog in the news.

Headfonics voted Alpha Dog their top pick for 2014., and It's on HiFiGuy528's top 10 list for Tone.

The praise is, in my opinion, well deserved. For me, the Alpha Dog better than the LCD-2, HE-500, and HD700 even considering that the latter headphones have different sound signatures. It is on par with the HE-560 but the HE-560 was a little hollow, had a little too much treble quantity, and did not have as deep a soundstage.

I knew the Alpha Dogs were the best sounding headphone I'd ever used from the first moment I listened to them.  Nothing could be better, I thought... until I heard the Primes.  To quote George Takei, oh my!

I do hope Dan finds a more cost-effective and easier way for upgrades.

Let me jump on the bandwagon.  Upgrading from the Dogs to the Primes was one of the best audio decisions for me- EVER!

The accolades are well deserved, and IMHO, praise for both the Dogs and the Primes is understated.

Amazing cans.  Simply amazing...

Makes me feel like a ass because I made it on the upgrade list then declined because I wanted a kayak.  Now its too cold even in Houston to get on the water.

If only I could go back in time to the San Diego meet. Dangit.. my only regret is not taking the Alpha Primes over to my own setup to listen to my own music and compare them to the AD. I grew up listening to all the music Southern California has to offer.

Here's one of my favorite tracks that has good quality on YouTube compared to other uploads I heard.

If you listen closely you can hear a baby cry at 3:16. Not sure if it was meant to be part of the track or an artifact of possibly Brad Nowell's infant son making noise outside/inside the studio.

few additional noob question for the AD

1- the cables, the red side is for R or L?
2- do you wipe down the pads after every listening session? I live in tropical weather and it can be quite humid and oily
3- any good carry case which is big enough for the AD? keeping the AD each time into the original foam and box is a PITA. I live in a fairly dusty environment

thanks
