I really like the looks of the ADs more than the MDP, but are they better for EDM music, I know the MDP are meant for them. The ADs are better all-rounders?

Has anybody used or care to comment on this combo for semi-portable/home use....I'm building a system from scratch.

AK120 (may go with S mod)
Vorzuge Pure II amp
Alpha Dogs in metallic black pearl
4' Helix DHC Molecule cable

Do you think these 4 compliment each other?

SunnO))) for me with one dot is perfect on my cans. And yes, it feels like a truly terrifying experience, and for me the Alpha's do it better than any other headphone or speaker system that I have had.

Have you guys tried the HD700? Thoughts?

I tried the alpha dogs at the SoCal meet and tho I really liked what I heard, they are quite large.

As someone who only listens to electronic music/EDM, I love the Alpha Dogs for it. Though people say its bass light, the bass is just the right quantity for me. Reading from the MDP, its probably more suited for EDM while Alpha Dogs are good all-rounders.

Talk to Trevor at Norse Audio. In the cable market he is the equivalent of Dan. Best possible solution for the price and he will go out of his way for the customer. His cables are covered in silk or cotton not PE or teflon so it is extremely flexible. The wire is true litz, individually enameled strands, not "litz braid". Dan's quality and service but for cables.

Re the pads, Dan made a really good point at the NY Spring Headphone Meet last weekend -- you can even use the pads on a particular song or type of music and then just take them out again. You can do this because the pads are so easy to install and remove. You just push the pads into the earpiece over the original pads -- nothing to take apart. So, for example, you can install a pad or two if you have some bright song with too much high frequency energy, and then remove the pad(s) after the song is over. I now do this for most Latin salsa songs, for example, which typically are recorded "hot" with trebles that are otherwise quite pronounced.

Most of the time I don't use the pads, just have two dots installed on each side.

I've auditioned the Alpha Dogs twice and the HD700 as well. Loved them both......a lot. I'd own the HD700's in a heartbeat for the right price. Never tried the Hd800 but the 700 was the most comfy headphone ever, light and sound was amazing out of a vintage amp with great bass.

And I'm considering the AD in black as well..........damn this hobby. I need no more headphones! I want more headphones!

I think you should save up more.

For $450 you would be practically stealing the HD700.
This can was originally priced around $1k ,so you would be lucky to buy under $500.

I wonder what kind of bass the hd700 has compared to the AD, MD and hd650. That may make a great match for the cracknspeedball
