Often I've seen people complaining about the T90 having harsh overpowering treble, that's often painful to listen to and for even myself, caused me to have headaches. I bought a Schiit amp and DAC to see if this would fix it but it almost made the problem worse. Alas! I had solved this problem of mine.

My entire library was MP3 based, even 320 kbps, but these were all painful to listen to. Then I decided to download a FLAC album and give a listen to it. No problem. Downloaded a FLAC album of one that had previously been painful to listen to, no problems.

Most Audiophiles have probably already updated their library to FLAC, or another form of lossless, straight from the Vinyl etc. but a lot of newer or consumer "audiophiles"  haven't really thought about this or had to deal with problems with lower bit rates before, but with these headphones, the flaws of MP3 really do shine through horrendously.

Before sending them back to the retailer or selling them on, actually go and download a FLAC of an album, and no YouTube at 1080p won't suffice. Have a look at the difference between even an electronic album, Random Access Memories in MP3 and in FLAC, in the FLAC version you will here on beat clicks, chimes, synthesizer artefacts and many other hidden sounds, it's like another world with these headphones...

After switching to FLAC library, I completely recommend them. Before however, I was moments away from switching back to my DT990s...

Speaking of the DT990s, I can't recommend them enough if your budget doesn't exceed £200, they are the best pair of headphones that I owned in that range and made everything sound great, while still maintaining that rough analytical dissection required from a pair of studio monitors, they were fantastic!

tl;dr stop using mp3 and upgrade to a lossless format! If I see anyone else complaining about harsh treble and soppy bass with these headphones... well, even worse if your claiming to be an audiophile yourself, thats just ******* shameful. These headphones are amazing, you just need to give them the right quality, MP3 is the bottleneck in your system. These headphones just show you what other headphones hide, the flaws of the format.

Peace.
