Highest or right most? Right most is the lowest impedance which in the case of the 846 would be the one that drops the treble/raises the bass the least.

It was ACS that I found but they informed me that they don't do the SE846.
pure occ silver cable makes a lot difference in terms of clarity (level of brightness), soundstage and detail. It complements 846s.
I own a few silver cables, although not for the Shure, but I haven't detected so far any differences in SQ contrary to many reports on here.
I do think there is a difference in cables, but I didn't when I first came to this site in 2001. How you notice the difference in cables is often attributable to two separate but important reasons:
1) noticing specific traits of your headphones over time - this can come with experience
2) sustained brain damage as a result of visiting head-fi
I might be looking for cables for my Shure 846 soon too. I've got a Cypher Labs Duet coming and I'm curious about how balanced cables impact IEMs. I'm probably going to go for the cables from Moon-Audio because I like the quality of their cables and the flexibility.
For your last question, different IEMs usually have different connectors for the headphone cable. The Shure IEMs have a Shure connector to attach headphone cables. You would need a headphone cable with a Shure connector.
The one that I have just got is thick yea, it's 8 braid, although it is actually the most comfortable cable I've tried yet due to the fact that it is woven to fold back over the earThe Shure doesn't use the more common JH/Westone connectors so you need a special cable with MMX terminations.
The DHC cables looks incredibly thick, unflexible and unconfortable. I know, I have owned a similar size cable from Forza audio. I stop using it after one days and sold it.
Despite being completely unsuited for IEM use and overpriced, people still rave about them.
Word of advice: DON'T look into it. It is a pitfall straight into hell!

After a lot of fiddling around with different eartips I found one that works perfectly for me with the 846's; the Westone Star Tip...what a relief! What a sound, I've never heard music come alive like this! They have rarely come out of my ears since .
I've seen silver cables mentioned a lot in this thread, do they make a big difference from the stock cables? Would they be worth picking up? I'm currently using a Cowon J3 and will be using the Fiio X5 soon.
