Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

Funny you should ask, my prime 2 solutions for the P7 is a cheap E11 and my iPad. They do sound a bit better out of the FiiO amp, though still outstanding out of the iPad directly. The H6's sound quite a bit better with the portable amp.

One more question and I'll leave you alone
If you had to play the B7s only from a smartphone (think iPhone 5S if specifics matter to you) would you bother with the e11 or do you not think it would be worth it? I've had trouble getting people to weigh in on P7 matters but personally they're my favourite headphones so again thanks for your involvement.
PS: If it follows that you would use smartphone+amp from the fact that you use ipad+amp forgive me for missing this; I am still learning as much as I can about this hobby.

No need for any amp if u r using iphone. Sounds gd enough, just make sure your songs r in lossless format

hahaha... i would say no need to use an amp if your headphones are 16-32 ohms. i wouldn't even bother with lossless format. 320kbps mp3 is good enough. if you disagree, simply do a blind direct A/B comparison between the two formats and see if you can accurately tell which one is which. most people can't.

I would say with the P7s, I'd forgo the extra amp and just use your iDevice. For the H6's (being less efficient), maybe a small E11 would do the trick? But it sounds pretty good out of my iPhone too (but I think it justifies having a separate amp).

What about a DAC? Will these cans benefit from the use of a dedicated dac and actually sound better?
Or I won't hear any difference compared to having them connected straight in the iphone/macbook jack?
Unfortunately I don't have the possibility to do some comparison, shops in my city simply don't have this type of gear.
Thanks :)

I swear this ES FC300 is simply amazing, and I've compared it to cans more than twice it's price. I'd like to see it added on thus comparison for sure, and I might even consider sending them to you (EDIT: MH). I just love them so much, I don't know how long I can go without them.

For portable use, I find that a DAC doesn't warrant what you'd lose (portability). Just my rule of thumb.

Gotta agree with you there. I can barely just manage a Colorfly C3 + C&C BH combo portably. I love the sound, but down the road I will most likely be looking for a single, and very portable, DAP solution.

At the moment I am just surviving on an android fone, a mono price iem...and an iPad with lossless music,
when I hit the streets.
Mikros90 incoming....slurps...cheap cheap...keeping it simple.

I can't Agree with you more. That's really boring to carry so much devices when hearing music. I just think that if P7 could be lighter than momentum, it will be the best.

The Onkyo ES-HF300? Yes......it sounds like a cross between the H6 and P7
