This is a closed and portable headphone not open and reference

but I do see carrying the X1 for portable use possible but the isolation aren't that great nor is it portable with it's size and weight IMO

Thanks for this dweaver. Orion looks great, as do all of the designs. Finally some attention is put into the artwork. I might get them since they look so great.

I'm worried about the isolation and build quality.

They seem solidly built but they have almost no isolation. Makes for their open sound but these are no good for transit or where you want to keep your music to yourself.

Is it the pads? Have you tried changing them?

It the pad design as far as I can see. Since these were a gift I haven't looked at them much plus the pad is a bit odd shaped so might not take a generic pad.

Guess ill skip on them. I'll probably take a break from buying audio gear fro this year. I've gone on hiatus from gaming, so I need to focus my funds there (Wii u accessories and games, PS4 vs XBOX One). 1 hobby at a time.

So answering my own question about Alpha Dogs against Nad HP50 Isolation the answer is Alpha Dogs are the better choice. I also don't like HP50's emphasized bass when using RWAK100 as source.

Im a university student travelling on the ttc bus and subway. Is it enough to block out the external noise, without killing your ears??

Personally, I would definitely not pick the M500 for any public transit.

Well its intended use its not specifically for transit its more an all arounder, like home, walking around neighbourhood, and transit (if sound quality suffers a bit im not overly fussy about that) if i was such a stickler i would just stick to my iems.

I was debating on the kefm500, vmoda m100 ,vmoda m80s

If i helps im absolutely loving the sound from my vsonic gr07 be , i also own the hifiman re400 (like a bit more bass but thr trebl is soo delicate )

I assume wit portables a bit more bass is okay, im no basshead

I'd get a portable with good isolation. I think the best balance I've found between quality and isolation is the Focal Spirit Professional, though you'd probably like the classic more. I had a tough time with the fit because of glasses, but were it not for that, I'd say they're as good as a portable can get

A portable with good isolation..sounds like the amperiors which i see here on kijij for like 140-160 "barely used"

I also see the focal spirit one but i heard theres defects on them (their dirt cheap at 120$used ) so i avoided them

I think i would br better off getting a bit bassier cause the added bass would help contend with the ambient noise

I think the classic would even be not bassy enough

I'd go with the Martin Logan Mikros 90. I prefer them to the m500 and m80 (haven't heard the M100 in a while) and they isolate much better.
