Yeah i saw the site but i live in the netherlands unfortunately. btw i noticed a lot of recent reviews on the MDR-7520 but it was released 2 years ago didn't it?

In that case, try Bax-shop.nl. They have a 60-day return policy (that's where I got mine). Free shipping, free returns. And you don't even have to pay upfront (and don't worry, no interest or any of that crap).

And yeah, it got released a while back, but somehow interest in this headphone sort of blew up :) I think they sound great.

If the 7520 is anything like mdr1r, than no thanks. I didn't enjoy them at all.

Nope, it's very different than the 1R. Much much better. I didn't like the 1R either, but really like the way the 7520 sounds.

The P7 was one of the nicest headphones I have ever listened to. That said, I didn't care for one other headphone mentioned in the title other than the studio beats which obviously rules out any credibility here on head-fi. I haven't heard the KEF's though

+1 for the 7520.

Yey! My 7520 is finally getting the attention it deserves on Head-Fi. I honestly thought it was going to be swept under the rug and forgotten about forever. It's really a nice headphone for the money. It does almost nothing wrong and is great at a lot of things. It's truly a reference type of studio sound. What Jude says in his guide is true and people should give it a try if they can find one at a good price.

I bought a pair last week on Amazon for around $375.  Initially I thought they sounded too bright.  I am getting use to the sound signature although at times they sound kind of grainy and the midrange seems to lack body but I wouldn't go as far as to describe the midrange as recessed.  Overall I like them.

I mean my credibility, if I like the studios...

Hey man if you like, you like it. LOL. I think attacking Beats is soooooooooooo 2012. It's out of fashion now. Besides the new studios sound better so yeah, whatever who cares about other people just go with what you like.

Lol - I see now. Sorry, my bad.

p.s. I haven't heard the Beats Studios, but it looks like they didn't do too badly in the OP. So your credibility is still intact lol.

Quite interesting to hear such a polarity of opinions on the same phone. Contrary, I've found treble quite relaxed and soft (coming from HD800 and T1) and midrange fuller than on both.

It's dead-horse beating time!
So I've auditioned the M500 and P7 for the fifth or sixth time last night, and I'm satisfied with my conclusions.

♦ M500 is brilliant. Easily worth it's price tag. What it doesn't have in sound stage it easily makes up for in instrument separation, placement, texture and resolution. If I had the money, I would own this beside my Momentum, as it would complement it very well as a more excitable sound against the Momentums laid back smoother sound.
♦ P7 is just not my cup of tea. The mids are a tad coloured, just slightly too forward and with a slightly unnatural timbre (doesn't decay well). It does so so much very well. Resolution and texture are top notch, but it just fails at rock music, specifically electric guitars. I love Grados for their forward mids in rock music, but it keeps the timbre natural and the decal is phenomenally realistic. The P7's just simply fail at this. Most other instruments, voices and genres are reproduced effortlessly, but as more than 70% of my collection is various types of rock music it doesn't make sense to my ears.
