Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

Agree with thoughts. I've tried about 4-5 of the ones you tested in the past 2 weeks,

The Kef M500 are my favorite of the bunch. I can't believe how good they sound and how comfortable they are. I've learned to just live with discomfort and these proved how wrong I was.

The only thing I disagree is with you assessment of the carrying case. I fit mine in with the cable just fine. Jude even mentioned that very same thing in his review in the Winter Guide. But you are right about the case being big.

I may try other headphones but its going to be hard to beat the M500s

Towards the end of my ownership of the M500s, I finally figured out a good way of coiling the cable with the headphones in the case. They're outstanding headphones for sure.

I suggest you try the B&W P7s and B&O H6s (my current 2 favourites). I'll be adding the H6s here soon and the new Monster DNA Over Ear Pros as well.

Glad to hear this

Wish I could afford both (heck, and the M500s).

Aside from Trunks' living room, where can one usually demo these Onkyos?

Noticed there a B&O store locally, so will hopefully be able to demo the H6s there.

The M500s really sounds great! But don't you think it is uncomfortable by wearing this on-ear headphone ? Maybe it is over-ear will be better! So I will still choose P7

It is the most comfortable headphone I've ever tried on. It has little to no pressure/clamp on your head. Even over-ears apply pressure. Sometimes too much pressure as was the V-Moda M100 for me or the on-ear DT 1350 from Beyerdynamic.

Just out curiosity which of these headphones looks better?

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 or Bowers & Wilkins P7

I prefer Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 natural leather just sooo pretty

The H6s are very well built and uber light, but nothing beats the construction of the P7s.

In other news, looks like I will be getting a loaner pair of NAD HP50s to add. Tyll's review on innerfidelity.com really got me curious about them...and they measure very well to boot!

Dear Ultimate-closed-back can searching peoples.

I got the Focal Spirit Pro and it's crazy awesome. The most neutral headphone I've heard with incredible extension, coherence and balance top to bottom. It's also very revealing of micro-details, "transparent". My jaw is on the floor and I can't seem to pick it up. It's "the one".

It surpasses the Ultrasone Sig Pro, which was the best can I've auditioned next to my MDR-7520, which I own.

I know I sound like I work for the marketing department of Focal, but I assure you, they could not pay me enough for me to be this unreasonably hyped up.
