Hi!

Im about to buy an reciever and a speakerset. I looked at the reciever Yamaha RX-V440RDS and the speakers JM Labs Chorus set. My question is this: is this a good combiantion?

Im going to use the system with movies and regular music.

Regards

Check it out for yourself. I have owned both but not at the same time. The Yamaha has a lean sometimes bright sound and the Jmlabs sometimes suffer from brightness. I would get something that has a warmer sound from either amp or speaker. Check out HiFi Choice and What HiFi magazines from England as they regularly put systems together and Yamahas are reviewed almost every month.

Tx Guys.

The problem for me is that i live in a small town far away from nice hifi listning rooms. If i can narrow down my selection it will be easier for me. The options i have is to order a selection of eq and then try them at home and if i dont like it i send them back. The problem with this is that stores in general dont like it and its a pain in the a** to handle the eq.

I read alot of hifi magazins and found that the speakersystem JM Labs have recieved alot of nice words. This is often in combo with more expensive recievers. This is my concern and my question if i can do the speakers justice with a less expensive receiver, like the yamaha.

I heard something similiar in the JMLab's Cobalt & Chorus standmounts. More thinness than brightness.

The only way to know for sure is to listen to that combo in your home environment. Just because a system sounds good in a dealer showroom, doesn't mean it will sound good at home (or vice versa for that matter).
