New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

Last time they tried to rush it it didnt go well, so i assume it will be delayed. Not a bad thing if the gear is that good.
Besides, we would have to save the cash for it, so no hurry from my side... Ill be able to afford it in 2045 maybe? :D

Jason-are you guys any closer to nailing down the release window for the Ragnarok this month? I'll be first in line.

Dude, give it some time. We've just only entered December and look at how the Vali has blown up. That may indicate it's being pushed to January,
which might give a better fit with a Ygg release. Like they did Mojo/Gungnir, maybe.

A double release would be perfect (I would probably buy them together if they sound great with HD 800), but still I think that we won't see Yggdrasil anytime soon, so Ragnarok will probably be released some months before it. Anyway this is my thought, only time will tell :).

Sorry for pushing everyone's buttons with a simple question not aimed at them. Bottom line is Jason last told us they were shooting for a December release-I don't see how that can be construed as 'rushed' when they said they wouldn't release it until it was perfect, and that they were still shooting for December.

Oh, and it's not like Schiit hadn't noticed the Vali hype train building up steam to nonsensical levels over the last couple of months, c'mon.

Jason, clarification when possible? Thanks.

Why are you so anxious? This is just the beginning of December.

Just joking, I've already seen your reply somewhere :D. I hope Ragnarok will be released this month, too, but the most important thing for me is that it has to be perfect when released (in terms of firmware/controls), so I'll patiently wait until everything has been sorted out :).

I agree-just looking for any sort of update from Jason-not the minions.

Please, do you think you'll have a chance to test Ragnarok side by side with the GS-X by using a HD 800?

Yes, that is my headphone of choice. I will also test with the UERM to keep Jason honest about his IEM to Speakers statement.

Okay, a quick update: it probably won't be December, but it almost certainly will be January. Here's why:

1. We're having trouble getting the metal quality we need. The chassis design has been an ongoing, interactive process with multiple vendors, and is still getting nailed down with the final selected vendor now that the PO has been placed.

2. We're going back and forth on two gain stages. Ragnarok is modular, so we can swap out gain stages and compare them. The one we've been running is very, very good, but we have one we think is better. I don't want to ship a Ragnarok that isn't as good as it possibly can be, so if we can work out some operational oddities with the better one, that's what I want to ship it with.

3. @(&$(&%^%!!! humming transformers. We're still working this out--the 400VA transformer in Ragnarok is a very different beast than the board-mounted transformers we've done before. We're currently taking the HV rails and LV rail out of the main transformer and putting it on a board, to hopefully eliminate the hum. Obviously, we can't ship this if it sounds like a refrigerator.

So, there you go. Still working some things out. Sorry for the delay.

No problems for the delay, I'm confident that Ragnarok will be the bargain of 2014 in the amplifiers department!

Regarding the hum, I suppose that you already considered to place the PSU circuit + transformer in a different case? That would surely remove any form of hum, but it would cost more in terms of $$$ and space, so maybe this is different from your original idea of having everything integrated in a single case.

Just one final question: which do think that could be an estimated release date for Yggdrasil, choosing from the following?:

- Q1 2014
- Q2 2014
- Q3 2014
- Q4 2014

You don't have to answer to this question, if you wish :D.
