New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

How big is your room and how loud do you want to go? With my 90db efficient speakers playing Beethoven's 9th, I had the volume at about 2 o'clock, which suggests there ain't a lot of headroom. But 60 watts is 60 watts.

Also keep in mind that (from my understanding) the Rag's volume control doesn't taper off like most amps, so 2 o'clock on the Rag isn't really comparable to how most other volume pots work (you should still have a good bit more headroom on the Rag).

Snowstorms and holiday delivery dates not withstanding, my Ragnarok is due tomorrow.

I'm guessing that no balanced out on the Yggdrasil would make it lose some of the magic.

I sincerely hope not.  All my amps are single-ended and that is not going to change.  If Yggdrasil performs better on the balanced out vs. the unbalanced that will be a shame.  It's not like the analog output stage is going to be ciclrotron like the Rag so I don't see why both output types can't be on a level playing field.

Really crossing my fingers for dual outputs (RCA in my case, but I'm sure people would love to see both types doubled).  Finding a good DAC with dual RCA outs is surprisingly hard and is the reason why I have never upgraded from my Channel Islands VDA-2.

Just got the Rag back today and the humming issue I had before seems to be gone, guess it just needed a 2 week vacation to get right. Back in business and sounds better than ever!

Sweet Hope your Ragnarok puts a smile on your face as you jam out.

I'm up to 120hrs on my Rok, and the bloom action, in multiple ways, is gratifying, to say the least.  :thumb

And as I had hoped/anticipated, the bass is a step up from the Mojo.

For those of you using Media Center and have turned on the Headphones Crossfeed function in dsp…
Try turning it off to see if you notice any change in the bass…

EDIT:  Never mind…  I figured it out…

Also keep in mind that the position of the pot doesn't give a whole lot of clue as to how much headroom you have at all...

Well okay, yes. I was more trying to make the point that (unless I misread Jason) the Rag's volume control doesn't taper off, but instead increases in a linear manner all the way to max volume, unlike most other volume pots.
