Fischer Amps: FA-4 E XB - Rhapsody series (3/4/5 drivers upcoming)

My current top 3 favourite IEMs! Shure SE846 is the latest addition - although I haven´t used them enough yet to do any in depth comparisons. Looking forward to the Rhapsody series. The FA4-XB isn´t embarrassed in this company so it´ll be interesting to see what Fischer Amps does next :)

I have these, and after a brutal experience,i managed to get the Rhapsody version. I don't have the old to do an A-B comparison, but they're slightly less bass from what I remember, but still blows away my pfe232's. I dug through this thread and only found a 3rd party referencE to the JH Audio Roxanne. Has someone done a closer examination of these two? It seems like the Roxanne might be slightly better, but what do I know?

Agree.
I've had the W4, PFE 232, and FXZ 200, and, although they can "compete" with the FA's, they only compete in 3 or 4 areas, while the FA just seems to have EVERYthing going for them.  These are all-around great's.  My final judgement is: 'if I were to go completely broke, which headphone would I sell LAST before I became homeless?'  In the case of the FA's, I've decided that being homeless wouldn't be so bad, as long as I still had the FA's. :-)

I'm interested to hear your impressions on these three side-by-side.  I've looked closely at the IE800's and the SE846's.  It still sounds to me like the IE800's don't have as much going for them than the FA 4E XB's (Rhapsody or otherwise) except maybe a warmer, fuller mid.  However, I've gathered that the SE846's could be the FA's strongest competitor; I don't say that it is better because that would feel sacrilegious to say.  I also need more information and direct comparison of the JH Audio Roxanne's in order to come to my conclusion on those.  If I won the lottery, I'd buy them the same day :-).

Apart from the slightly less bass what do you think of the rhapsody improvements?

Just added a good amp to my dx 50 and the sound is so incredible with these rhapsody 4 !! I can hear everything so clear, detailed with loads of punch and super exciting treble!! can't wait to see more reviews, but if these will be priced at around 450 euros and the rhapsody 5 also will be an improvement, start to save some cash guys...the logo of course is still in the shell after two weeks :p

I am committed to Fischer Amps, so if they come out with an "upgrade," consider it bought. Right now I'm struggling to identify whether to get the Kaiser 10/10u or the JH Audio Roxanne. I'm thinking K10 is a better all around sound, but the Roxanne is available to buy from somewhere else besides direct, so there's a better price point!
For now, all I need is these Fischer Amps. I have hesitantly put my PFE232's up for sale, althought I still love their timbre and clarity. I'm very mobile, so my FA4's have a couple different cable setups. This is one of my preffered mobile setups, as their's some amping and the microphone quality is halfway decent.

Oh, and here is Exibit A on why I think maybe the Rhapsody came about not to improve sound, but to cut costs. To top is the clip that came with the Rhapsody, the bottom is the clip that came with the original....

I had a guy build a custom short cable for it in order to use the FiiO Rocky, Soundblaster E1, or other bluetooth dongle.
And no, I can't stop my car while wearing the Rhapsody's because I have glued them into my hears.... I just hope they last literally my lifetime.  my kids will probably bury me with them on.... then again, my kids will probably fight over who gets to keep him.  Should I put my Rhapsody's in my will?
I still like my PFE 232's for a clarity and timbre rich sound.  I had my FAD Heaven VI's stolen, but I miss their amazing mids, so I'm really craving getting the Heaven VIII's, too.  But, really, I need to stop because my wallet cannot control my impulses!

Any news on the 5 driver Rhapsody series? Are your 4 driver models the final versions?? Couldn't find any German dealers who sells them, so wondering if they has been released?
My biggest hope for the 5 driver version would be more musical/lush mids. Bass and treble extension have been great with the FA-4 E XB already.
Also wondering how the comfort with the new shell is? They look somehow bigger to me. The old FA-4 E XB is quite small and therefore comfortable compared to some huge multiple driver IEMs from custom companies.

No, I have not heard of the 5-driver.  I'm very curious to know now though.  I'm looking into jumping into the highest of tiers of headphones and am about to invest a ton of money into a set, so I really wanna know.

On another note, I've recently gotten a set of FX850's from JVC.  These dang things are INCREDIBLE.  I couldn't ever say that they're better than the FA's, because I dearly love those, however I have found myself with the JVC's in my ears twice as much as the FA's.  For only $250, you ought to hear the JVC's. I've been blown away by them and am even considering selling my FA's to get more cash to invest in some top-tier phones like the 1964Ears new A12.

GUYS, I have VERY Interesting Information of Jochen Fischer for you !!!

I talked with him for about 2 minutes and first I have to say he is really kind!

I live in Germany too, so it is easy for me to come in contact with him.

He told me new things about the Rhapsody Series 3 / 4 / 5.

They are named "The Rhapsody 4 Rapture & Rhapsody 4 Symphonie" & They will BLOW your Mind!!!!

Here are the Sound Signatures about the Rhapsodys:

Rhapsody 3

It will have 3 Drivers and the Sound is optimized for the Stage play.
-------------

Rhapsody 4 Rapture (Fun & Exciting In Ear)

It is a huuge Improvement to the FA-4-E XB, you will DEFINITELY hear it. It is sooo much more detailed, you cant Believe your Ears, the Seperation of Instruments & given Details are on the Highest LEVEL..
Jochen Fischer said it is The Ultimate in what you can do with In Ears, it will Come Like Wrecking Ball, cause it is a little "Evolution" in In Ear Monitoring, a step forwards.

The Uppermids & Highs are the most Audiophile in Listening you've ever heared in this Price Class, but it is still a Audiophile Balanced in Ear, like Jochen Fischers said.

--------

Rhapsody 4 Symphonie (Reference Monitor)

These In Ears are in the Frequency really Flat, nothing shines out & it is an Analytical & Dissector In Ear, so you can hear every Instruments natural like it should be.

For Classic, Jazz, Soul Lovers, an EARGASM, it will surely comparised with the UERM!

Rhapsody 5 (Coming Later..)

He is still working on this In Ear, he told me only it is NOTHING you expected, that means it will Kill EVERYTHING.

It has 2 Back Vented Bass Drivers, 2 Middle Drivers & 1 High Driver, it will have sooo much Power to make your Ear Flip out!

---------------

The Rhapsody 3, Rhapsody 4 Rapture, Rhapsody 4 Symphonie will arrive in 2 Months maybe, he told me.

The Rhapsody 4 Series will cost about 450€.

And he told me also he tests his In Ears only with Silicone Tips, somebody said these In Ears are tested with Foam Tips, thats wrong!

One Important thing I want to say is that he Tests & Configures ALL His In Ears with IBasso DX50!
