This thing sounded pretty impressive at RMAF!  Hopefully we'll get some impressions going...

Yes, I listened to it with the Ether C and my UE5 and in both cases sounded fantastic. Probably the best portable I have listened to. Very powerful and musical. I can't wait for the pre-order to open!

Interesting. So did Alex have it set up with an Ether C at his desk? Can you provide any impessions vs Ether C with Liquid Carbon?

It was there on the tables with all the other amps. People tended to move headphones around to try different combinations. I'm pretty sure that people tried at least the Ether, Ether C, HE1000, Noble K10 (when I thought they might be interested), OPPO, LCD3, HE800, and even Abyss. A few brought their own headphones including Roxanne IEMs and new Noble K10s with aluminum bodies. They were really nice looking. I wanted a pair.

Oh. I was talking about the portable. But the same happened with the Carbon except for the IEMs.

He had the HEK, Ether, Ether , HD800, he 560 and Abyss at the table...among others perhaps. I did not take notes. I was able to swap between the portable and the Liquid Carbon using the HEK, Ether and 560. The portable did a real nice job with all of the headphones. It never seemed labored at all. It had maybe a slight reduction in sound stage depth, but it was a show and I was using open headphones. I liked what I heard though and will be in for a purchase when they become available. BTW, both amps were sourced from a Hugo and I could switch back and forth quickly. Glad I am in for  a Liquid Carbon, but the portable did impress.
Interestingly, I tried the Ether C out of the Crimson. I did not find the C to my taste. Not the amplifiers fault here though! The HEK on the other hand has yet to fail to impress. Even more so with the Crimson. The best sound of the show for me was the Liquid Gold with the Abyss..

I spent lots of time at the Cavalli table...

Alex had several different headphones in his both so everybody can tray any combination of headphones and amps.
Sorry I did not try the Ether C with the Carbon but I did try the HE1000 with the Crimson and sounded fantastic.

Hello folks. I'm making this post in two places.

As some of you have heard we are about ready to open the naming contest. I am really happy to finally get this going.

BUT IT ISN'T OPEN YET. :)

Many of you have been following the slow progress of the CA portable for some time. Some number of you have posted names to the threads. I have posted on a number of occasions asking you all not to do this since you are putting your ideas into the public domain. Others have posted noting this as well.

As you all know a contest has to be fair with a well defined process. We have put this together and there will be a fairly standard set of contest rules and limits on submissions.

I would like to ask you all again, please DO NOT post names to open forums. NONE OF THESE can be considered official submissions to the contest. Even if you go back and point out that you were the first to post a particular name this cannot and will not be considered an official submission.

The only submissions that will be accepted are the ones entered through the contest entry mechanism. Only official entries will be considered by the judges. We are planning to run the contest using the FB infrastructure available for doing this.

On the bright side three terrific individuals have agreed to judge the contest:

Jude Mansilla
Warren Chi
Don Basel

Who could ask for better than this!!!???

Many thanks to these gentlemen for taking on this, almost certainly, difficult job of picking a winner out of all the great names you are about to submit.

So we will only be able to submit name entries via facebook?

Facebook is hosting the contest on the Cavalli Audio page, but anyone with an email address can enter. You do not have to have a Facebook account, and Facebook does not store the data.

It's here!

On October 30th, Cavalli Audio invites you to take the chance to have your winning name as the official namesake for the new portable amp! And to take delivery of one, as a thank you for your contribution.

You could keep to the Liquid theme, which is a safe bet, or show your creativity by making something original and fitting for the portable concept.

Submit once a day, so keep 'em, coming. But wait until the 30th (at noon, CDT) when you will have a form to submit. Don't give your name away! Who knows if your name will be the one that graces all of the new Cavalli portable amps. We can't wait to see everything you come up with!

Name it anything, just release it already

Last I heard he was targetting pre-orders for January.  He wanted to get all the LC's out the door before starting on the portable.
