James, sounds pretty good, problem is we most likely will begin to sing after a good dose of audition :-D

I'd be prepared to pay good money to see james444 sing, er....anything, really!

I am sure you won't want to hear us singing, but if you insist we will let you know time and place. :)

So how does the ASG-2 sound?  Any good or what?

Turns out the owner of these ASG-2 with me has allowed me to have a one month extended loan, so we'll be party hardy together for sometime. Impressions can wait but my Carly Rae Jepson album cannot.

As Taylor Swift would say Gintaras, I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22.

Objectively speakin, no. Coherency issues across the board. Treble is shelved and then promptly fed into a wood chipper, and the wooly bass couldn't replicate the sound of a mouse farting in a padded room. Severe issues with timbre; midrange so poor they can't even get middle C on a keyboard right. Aurisonics should have heeded the acoustic failure of the erstwhile hybrid du jour the K3003; relegate this experiment to the junk heap I say.

I'm jealous of whoever scored klfl's pair. Those things looked slick. The matte finish gave me some ideas. Gonna try to replicate the finish myself with a similar no gloss finish

What you ASG-2 owners need (expect for Gintaras) is this little Colorfly C3.

The UI is very basic however the sound you'll get from ASG-2 is really nice, lifts the tonality towards cool just a touch and supports instrument separation (these are areas C3 is known for working well). I could use a number of sources such Hisounds Studio V, Rocco BA, Cowon J3 though I choose the little Colorfly for ASG-2. What also helps here is C3 suffers just a touch of low end roll - off, so you smooth over a fraction of that mid-bass hump present in ASG-2's signature, that's how I'm hearing it though we might also lose any sub-bass some find absent. Personally, I don't mind the mid-bass hump with bass ports set at 1 and 1/2 clicks, I feel it helps form the presentation ASG-2 is trying accomplish also contribute to wild foot stomp dancing at random, though I don't want much more. For example,Cowon J3 overcooks the presentations low end, I get a little too much bleed coming through covering mids, C3 sits well while keeping things separated. By about 38/40 on the volume you're pretty much rocking your own live concert, so don't worry about driving power issues.

Spend $100 and rake in the benefits of your new audiophile player. I believe Gintaras owns one and will happily tell us how it sounds.

Highly recommended, especially for those rocking smartphones. You can take it further!
