[REVIEW] Aurisonics ASG-2 & 2.5 (with many comparisons)

Haha ok, good. Actually, when I think about it, I was thinking about the Nordic countries. Since that's pretty much all I know about. But as with most things. There are greater differences within each separated population than there are between them. My brain stopped working a few hours ago. Now I'm going to eat popcorn, chili nuts and watch some Dota 2. Hmm.. Need to be able to hear if my daughter wakes up screaming.. maybe I should buy open cans... :p

fine, but last time we spoke you told you were going to bed, good boys keep promises :p

as concerns popcorn and chili nuts before going to bed i am not to tell you about the danger of side effects? :-D

Is it everything you've dreamed and more?

Also check the bass port if you find the low end too heavy out of the box. Call it express burn in.

OMG, this box looks so monumental, even if you do not like what is inside you can always keep the box for putting sandwiches and else :p

Actually I just said that I needed to sleep. I'm well aware of the dangers but I'm hungry and kind of depressed right now. And working nights really screws with my rythm. Ok, let this be the last derailing post from me. Let's get back to the ASG-2. I can't wait to get them. Actually, I've already paid for them. 12 days ago. Then I mailed a few days about the new cross valves and asked very politely how the work went with them. Then I got the response that I would get an invoice and they would add it to their list so they would start building it. Then no response for a few hours.

Currently swapping tips and testing different music...

Things I like so far:
Case
Matte finish
Twisted cable
Fit

Things I don't like so far:
Plastic memory tube on wire
Matte finish has imperfections

On standby:
Sound...

I thought the EXACT same thing! I honestly didn't expect it! I knew it was going to be bigger, but that blew my expectations out of the water.

Incoming eyecandy/pics (I'll eventually be using these pics in my review as well)

It was too the point I showed my friends with my Swisstool for size comparison.

Opened box... Naturally I took this the next day after I had used them for a while... But I tried to replicate as it came!

The IEMs themselves in all their lovely glory.

Close-up, and consequently you can also see my bassport setting there.

And I still say if they added a 6.35mm adapter and a soft pouch I'd have no qualms what so ever with the amount of accessories. Otherwise it is everything I want/need from an IEM.

Close-up of an earlier shot. After shifting things around to get a clear shot.

The underside and bore.

And finally new plug, which honestly threw me off, but I guess that is now Aurisonic's standard.

All in all, these are a handsome set of phones. And they sound just as good as they look.

I just received mine from a fellow headfi'er and apparently but it looks like that it might be an older production/batch. Strange though, since he stated he just received them from last week. The tools that came with mine did not have a brush on the side and also the 3.5mm has black ring instead of green and the shape is different (still 90 degree though).

Sound wise, I like it with the bass port closed completely and i actually don't mind the memory wire. I've had way worse memory wire than these. I don't like how the case has 2 clips that you have to unbuckle, so I will be using a Pelican case instead. So far, everything is pretty good, but then again, these are the most expensive IEMs I've had. Before that was se535.

Have wondered whether any manufacturers have noted that cable makers do not offer memory cable! Are those westone pins?

All standard oem ciem "Westone epic" style cables are bought from the exact same source, as there is only one in the market. If I'm not mistaken, without memory wire hasn't been an option, only length of the memory wire has been.

Custom cable makers also use memory wire but for many it is optional. Some methods of memory wire sections are done by heat shrink instead of wire.

I was under the impression that these would have great isolation with the bass port closed but that doesn't seem to be the case to me. Can anyone comment?

Depends on your point of reference. I have the Ety HF5 here, and the G2's isolation is only slightly less. For instance I can barely hear the vacuum cleaner with music playing.
