So I have a pair of Klipsch s4 I think they are, and they sound awesome but, the cord has a short in it and if I move while wearing them they sound all cracked out, so I am sad and need a new pair of headphones, and I like the noise isolating silicon headphones like these, but I am also interested in some around ear headphones. Now this is my first post on this website, and I've read some stuff on here and other websites and I'm just way overwhelmed with all the information and technicalities. But I love how my current pair before getting messed up allowed me to hear things so much clearer and I was wondering if for my next pair with either a similar style or around ear headphones I should pick. The primary source I would plug it in to would be my iphone, but if it has a long cable, then I would plug it in to my home theater receiver for gaming when my family is asleep (instead of in silence as I do now). So a long cable isn't a deal breaker, but would be nice. So what headphones should I get? I'm very confused and not even sure what I'm looking at when I look at all the technical stuff on websites. They will get used primarily walking around campus, but in a few weeks I am going on a big family trip out of the country, and need to get new headphones before we go. So things I'm specifically looking for:
In or around ear
decent noise isolation/canceling
neutral sound (i don't need beats by dre blowing me up with bass or anything like that)
$200 or less (I am willing to go used)
can be powered by my iphone, but if I can plug into my Onkyo tx-sr608 will be able to take advantage of that
(If it has a long cable for me to use with my receiver, then I would be used for music/games/movies in that order of frequency)
Other less important consideration:
5.1 sound, I've seen some of those and if I can plug in my receiver that would be pretty nice
replaceable cord so i could have a short cable for daily use, and a long one for my receiver
and one that absolutely does not have a mic on it....
Thank you very much for anyone that takes the time to read and respond, and sorry I am not more familiar with all the jargon or information related to this topic
