The Fiio X5 Thread

I think over-size album art embedded in the FLACs can cause this problem. HDTracks sometimes put hi-res images in their hires audio.

I don't think that is the problem. The artwork is only 15kb or 19kb, that seems really small.  There is also a PDF of line notes in the folder.  I'll try removing both just to see what happens, but it seems doubtful at that size.

I've had this exact problem since day 1 and still haven't found a solution yet. I think it does have something to do with the artwork, but what I do is just select the song it skipped and it will usually start playing it properly after 2 or 3 tries. I think a real fix will need to come from FIIO in a future firmware update

I don't think it has anything to do with the artwork. I removed the artwork and the PDF from the folder, and the problem persists. It's either a hardware problem or a firmware problem.

Yes I did the same thing but notice how the albums still display artwork when playing? Hdtracks tags it to the individual tracks even if there is no actual file in the folder

Last night I discovered that my X5is stuttering and jumbling on hi rez 2496 tracks that I downloaded from HD tracks. I confirmed this on three separate folders. It trips up approximately every minute. It is doing just fine on standard 1644. I never noticed with this before, but haven't been playing much Hi-Rez stuff. The battery was at 40%, but it played for quite some time after I noticed this. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on? Should I reboot? I am running firmware 2.0.

Had similar problems with my x3. It always turned out that the files got corrupted while copying over to the sd card. I've also read a few people say they've gotten corrupted downloads from hdtracks as well.

You're right. I didn't notice this before. This is still a real problem. Doesn't the X5 come with a coupon for hdtracks? And it's not compatible with hdtracks?

Has anyone noticed that hirez flax files without embedded artwork work fine but not with the artwork?
