The Fiio X5 Thread

Meh. I already have an e12. I don't need a DAP with an e17 amp stuffed inside it. I don't see why they're doing the same thing twice with the x3 and x5. A thinner, smaller DAP with a line-out would better satisfy the many people who already have portable amps.

That's actually not a bad idea, but it's nice if the DAP has a really good amp section, taking away the need for a portable amp. Atleast for IEMs.

...and not everyone want to carry an amp. Well, most people will properly perfer not to.

Did I miss something? I thought the x3 was the "e17 stuffed inside" but the x5 completely different. In fact they haven't announced amp section, right?

No details on the amp section yet, but it is unlikely it will be any significantly different from the X3. The only way to outdo X3 amp is to put in a E12 level design, and that will likely cut battery life well under 5 hrs. I am not sure that's a smart decision. The goal of X5 is to have a top of the line DAC first, with an adequate amp section. Unless you want X5 to be brick ize, it is not feesible to have a build in E12 inside.

I think people are overreacting to the idea of an E17 ampI. It is no like it is a bad design in the first place ..

For some reason my mobile browser is cutting off part of your post.

I wasn't expecting anything more powerful but perhaps more resolving. I'm all for good battery life. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing what Fiio can do in a higher end dap.

That's probably my fault for trying to post using Opera Mobile.

We are receiving some serious information about ibasso's new toy DX50, I wish we could say the same for FiiO's Reference Level DAP X5

(fingers crossed, maybe James would feel sorry for us and give a few hint

You people should chill out...lol. Wait until the X3 is in wide release.....I'm be willing to bet that is where James is focusing his attention right now. Once the X3 is out for everyone to experience, then I am sure they will have time to give us some hints about the X5.

we are focus on the production of X3 and E12 right now, also the other models is almost out of stock become the market demand growing fast than we expect. anyway, we already decided the specification and all the detail of X5, so it will be better keep it in mind and them release it

when the R/D almost done and ready for production.

Wonderful news, wonderful news again. First I want to say I am really happy for both customer side and FiiO side, it is indeed a very nice success you have done at there.

Also, manufacturers like you deserve to be successful. Completely honest, being in touch with customers all the time, listening to them and answering, price wise you don't kill our wallets either. What can we ask more?

I already knew about the X3, but the X5 seems even more promising!

Subscribed and hoping for october to come quickly :)

If everything in the OP is right, among other things, having dual micro SD slots is a big plus over the X3.
