At the price and what most know they will get, due to past experiences with iBasso, the price is almost a give away. Think about it. What do you get for 239 that can offer all that this will/does? When I was a kid, 20 dollars was a lot. Now 100 seems like the new 20 dollars, if that makes any sense. So 239. . . . is a very easy decision.

You do realize you can get a very competent 7 inch tablet for $239?

The reason we're all clamoring for the DX50 is because we're serious about this hobby and listening to music.

While I do understand economies of scale I'd never claim any of the expensive toys are 'deals'.  The Sansa Clip Zip is a deal.  A new Galaxy Nexus 7 is a deal.  The DX50 is a niche product for hobbyists.

Has anyone from the first batch received shipment confirmation?  The 26th is today and in China it is now early morning on the 27th.

Hi Purk, i suspect they will first use courier to move the units to Hong Kong from Shengzhen, then the courier will use more reputable international courier services in Hong Kong to send out worldwide...Thus, this takes 2-3 days to consolidate back the tracking numbers.
I checked in other thread that ibasso is a very small operation, but i have not read that anyone got ripped so I am patient for the package to arrive...

Side note, do you guys think it will come in those ragged looking white box this time?

For what you are getting in the DX50, to me, it is a deal. I have worked on and built preamps and amps and for all the work, the screen, which is the same as the AK100, to me, it is a deal. And I wouldn't cary tablet in my pocket. :^) And I guarantee you, the DX50 will sound better than the Clip Zip.

In a realistic sense, I completely agree, the word deal is based in context.

I'm trying to talk myself out of this because I need a DAP and can get plenty good enough for less. I'd say that for what you get, within the context of this hobby, this is one of the few things that don't seem overpriced for expected reasonable quality and feature set. That makes it look like a deal because everything else is so expensive.

Interesting concept :p

I'm surprised more people here don't care more about the UI. There is sooo much missing from the UI screens displayed on the site.

It is a primary concept in the field of hifi sound engineering for more than half a century.

Well, different DACs can sound different - wolfsons are usually a bit on the warm side while the sabre is more neutral. And yeah, I'm willing to bet money that the c421 is superior to the amp sections of both x3 and dx50 coz it is a dedicated amp and not an all-in-one device.

Ah so a sub $300 DAP may be a fruitless endeavor, if the $55 hifimediy and my C421 can surpass the DX50. It comes down to how portable I want to be with my hi-fi listening, but I guess i'll have to wait for reviews.

Well, that kinda goes without saying. I wouldn't be interested in this or the Fiio X3 and X5 if the sound was at best on par with a $35 dap.

This is deal because of AK100/120 pricing, and not to forget Tera Player showing the world how no feature DAP can sit on top of price chain. Even I would like to belive this DAP will be closer sound to DX100 or other pricey DAPs, my fear is it will more likely to sound like Cowon players like J3 with clean sound but better power than J3.

Although I have never heard  of AK100/AK120, I strongly believe they must sounds great because people willing to pay for that price. :)
