This is Head-Fi, you never know... I'm surprised that nobody has said that the HiSound Studio 3rd is better than the DX50 yet. Or that anything else than the Clip+ is snakeoil and a waste of money.

No need. It's a given.

DX50 is right up my alley. The 100 is a bit large. I think I could manage a 901 but barely because it's tactile and just that much smaller. I feel the same as you about the AK100.

For some time I have been asking iBasso if they are going to come out with a smaller DAP. They finally answered that very soon, the DX50 would be available. I am very much looking forward to this.

About the size on an ipod but a little thicker.

wow, looks great! I've been using Hisound daps for the last 1.5 years....I don't even know what to do with a screen that nice any more! Hope it sounds as good as it looks(and costs!).
...Really interesting DAP

DAP market is really getting hot both in high and mid end. DX50 seems very promising and the only picture we have seems nice. But still we better wait for the specs and all. We don't know it will be more or less like its big brother or completely different unit. If it can be affordable DX100 with better battery life, they can sell a lot and I mean really 'a lot'.

I'm seriously hyped about this - if it has the sound of the DX100 in a more pocket-friendly package... perfection.

What do you think the price will be if you took a wild stab in the dark Sorensiim? I'm thinking $450 - $600 Lower? Higher?

My gut feeling:

If they're going for a pocketable DX100 with the same dac and supreme clarity, $600.

If they're taking a shot at mid-fi DAPs, $400.

TOTAL stab in the dark, your guess is as good as mine, but I think it would make sense. We need Ibasso to tell us more about where they're aiming this thing...

I do wonder if it will sound the same as DX100, I think being a model under their flagship they won't want DX100 dethroned, I'm thinking it will be baby DX100 focused at mid tier market, which works well, considering that's exactly my hang out. RWAK100 might be in jeopardy.

Lets us wait! Wait for iBasso.

Prolly wont though, i think its different since its pretty different compared to the dx100,  different amp i guess?  Since they will probably want the dx100 to stay until we got somekind of dx200

I really hope they'll do a DX100 DAC section (their implementation of the ESS Sabre DAC is phenomenal) but with a smaller amp and no digital outputs. I'd happily pay $600 for that. Especially with real, tactile buttons! To hell with Android, Bluetooth and wifi, just a music player please.

That's just my personal hopes and wishlist though. If they go for a less resolving sound in fear of dethroning the DX100, but make it cheaper, that would probably sell pretty well too. Then I'd just keep my DX100
