Nice pics - it's amazing to see such a massive comprehensive array of what looks like every make and model of headphone from budget to summit-fi gloriously displayed in these stores you have in Japan as it gives you the best accessibility to listen and buy for sure.

I don't think there is any stores in the UK that could even come close to the kind of headcan heaven stores shown in your pics.

I think some folks get very confused because I'm a basshead that somehow I don't appreciate/understand have access to everything.
I 'm a bass audiophile. I look down on crushers and 40mm drivers that crinkle crackle way too soon. I hear what is what. Every other weekend. I don't take pics at boutique shops as that is a no-no.
 
The Beats get respect as they should and the sz sales are strangely growing.

I listen to the Audiophiles and then go check their claims about 2 times a month. I do not comment in threads with cans I don't own or no longer own. What's the point?
I can see what's fanboying and what's real and whats a gem.
The SZ's were a gem that got tossed aside until I saw one hanging on a rack. Now it's clearly one of the most powerful dynamic driver bass headphones on the market...it always was but now JVC seems to be realizing what they got. I compare these using the same track they use at the audiophile /flagship section. These sz are very very nice when listening to this. I use eq but for $1000+ I'd expect the others to be ready for Mr Monk....some are not. The sz are .......very nice. And the price is climbing.
 
This track opens with piano but goes full "jazz" further in.
To the sz owners who like other genre'....change the pads and eq and the world is yours. No ****. I did it for the 5th time 5 days ago.

What does the "bass table treatment" mean? are they coming up with a different/ altered version? or is it just a price/ marketing change?

 
They have gotten the "Head-Fi" boost.
Many folks buy and never comment or join. Sales have bumped. There are reviews and vids on the net. They are not fools. There is a market. They put em on the bass table instead of on the rack. It's a marketing move and now the price creeps up. They were going after the wrong crown at first. They are changing direction. JVC is slow on the draw but they are learning. I should be paid by them

nice. I'm definitely one of the "bumpers", I heard about these here for the first time and was curious enough to order them. In fact, online post tracking indicates that the package has arrived today and should be waiting in my front porch... (not bad considering I ordered these from Japan via Amazon 5 days ago!) can't wait to finish work and go home to give them a test!
 
I'm still waiting for the earpads I ordered to go with these, in the mean time I'll try the stock ones and the alpha pads from my Mad Dogs.
 
I think that others mentioned here that these need a substantial burn-in time, but it's still exciting.
 
Btw, from the photos on this and the previous page I finally got a good grasp of how big these cans are! they make the HD800 look like portable cans in the photo of them side-by-side...

Your ears need adjust time and like @cb3723  start from the middle with the wiz khalifa track just so you know what they are capable of and work your way towards your desired levels. Works better than starting with a random fave and being underwhelmed. Go at it's strenghts feel the power and then put your own twist and tastes on it. A cup change is a HUGE difference maker. I listened to my pad modded sz2000 v.s. their stock one and it was very clear the mids benefited and the bass impact was even harder. 2 sz2000 side by side was a first for me. I'm rec'ing the pad change very strongly

Thanks! 3.5 hours until I finish work... (i'm in Aust). I saw yours and others' very strong recommendations re-pads, so I ordered both HM5 pads and EDT770S pads, to see what fits. I also have a spare pads of PSB M4U2 which I'll try, but they probably won't fit as they're more elongated. And as I said, I'll give the Alpha Pads a try with it.
 
Perhaps later tonight I'll post some early impressions

I want folks to know that while I call these the Kings of Bass I listen to everything. If you own the sz2000 you own a very nice set and they are priced too low. The price is going up. I wouldn't take anything made of wood for bass and frankly nothing touches them in that area. The T1 are another level of clarity but they kick the hell out of the HD800 and those cost $1,500.
 
Make no mistake. These cans...the sz are very nice. If you have listened to all this stuff enough you start to appreciate them more. 
Be proud. These cans are awesome. 
I will buy the T1 someday when I feel the need but otherwise I'm set.

I don't think any Head-Fi Meet has ever had this many legends up for testing.

It will be when the post stage is correct. The multiple posting rules will require me to take them down from here and re-post in extreme. Just in case anyone subscribes to the belief that a true basshead is unaware of Hi-Fi. No, I know of, and appreciate the rainbow of types.

  So if hip hop is less than 80% of my music library, I shouldn't even bother with these headphones?  Thanks for the advice because I have too much variety in my music which includes Alternative, Blues, Classical, Country, EDM, Electronic, Hip-Hop/Rap, Industrial, Instrumental, Jazz, New Age, Pop, R&B/Soul, Reggae, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Vocal, World (Hawaiian).  Yes, Hawaiian music because I was born and raised in Hawaii.
 
I just thought maybe I could listen to my 184 (and growing) hip hop/rap songs with a JVC HA-SZ2000.  In fact, there's probably more in my collection that would sound pretty good with the JVC HA-SZ2000.
 
I found some reviews online here and here that make the JVC HA-SZ2000 appear to be more genre friendly than you are.

Use an eq for Mehameha...Fiji will be fine...raise the bass to thumptastic of course.

The 1000 sound the same until you get up to ridiculous bass boosting then the brass cylinder v.s. brass tabs let the bass start resonating/echo ala 77's Pro 900. They were priced pretty close a few months ago but it has widened to 100 bucks diff similar to release price gap iirc.

Yeah, I was wondering why the price difference - here in Poland it's even a bit over 150 bucks, sz2000 being priced 490$ (I know...)

Damn, arrived home to find no package...  I did notice that for some reason Amazon sent me 2 different tracking numbers, and the other one is still in transit. So perhaps the first tracking number was a mistake and is someone else's order. Might be another day or two wait...

In the mean time, what do those that have it have to say about amp pairing? I saw that it has low impedance so it should get loud enough straight out of ipods/laptops, but I also saw that it can handle lots of power, which i would guess is really needed to really tap into the bass potential. Did owners try it with solid state vs tube amps? I'll post impressions with my Corda Concerto when it finally arrives.

They sound good straight out of an Ipod, but the 16 Ohm impedance is misleading. Some of my 40Ohm cans are equally loud or even a bit louder. They get very loud out of a Fiio E12 though. And the built in bass boost suits them just fine. Yesterday, I listened a lot to my IEMs Sony XBA-H3. Then later in the night I switched to the SZ2000. First they sound quite veiled then, but after some time they are really good again. Seems the my brain needs some minutes to adapt to the quite different sound signature. Bass is unmatched though.
