Think this is it dsd/dff playback.

My 901 is on the way UPS promise this Monday coming, hope all the hype is worth the investment I must say i'm expecting a lot from HiFiman to deliver the sound I have really craved since I first auditioned an i pod classic back in the early 2000,s . DSD file library..check..16/24bit Flac..check. Girlfriend also really looking forward to it...not!

Just upgrade to 1.081 and tried a few files.  .DSF are not support (yet?) and they won't even show up in the Folder view for you to select.  .DFF files has mixed results, some files play with hiss and others played without.  With the properly playing files it sounded excellent and better than same file on AK120 (probably more to do with how I like the 901 amp section better).

I had no such luck. Tried a couple more albums in DFF. All of them hissed like crazy. One didn't even get recognised (got "file type unsupported" error)

Now on firmware 1.081 and everything recorded in 24bit and above 96khz still plays super slow.  Tried using Music Converter Pro to convert said annoying ALAC files...it maxes out at 96khz and downgrades everything to 16bit :frowning2:

If you're on a Mac, try "Max" or "Audiogate". Both are free and without any restrictions.

Um... So I tried a four-track Bruckner Symphony No.8 conducted by Karl Bohm (DFF files transferred from SACD-R via scarletbook), and it also hissed like crazy. Any solutions?

It's more like a firmware issue so there's not much you can do (other than convert them to PCM by yourself..)

Hey guys, I'm beginning to think about upgrading my 16GB SD Card to a larger one (64GB or 128 GB), any particular suggestions of brands? I heard the HM-901 is very picky with SD Cards.

Has anyone contacted hifiman in regard to this issue. Dsd playback is a a big reason i'm buying this machine and i'm sure it's the same with other head fiers

Yup I m sure they are tracking it as feedback were posted right on their beta firmware announcement thread.

Also, do note this is BETA and if you are not the adventurous type better wait for the official released versions that are posted on there website. I believe the intention for the beta is for the friendlier users on their official forum to crowd-test for them...

I m using kingston 128gb and working fine thus far. I tested a bunch of cards earlier and all work fine:

Cannot recall hearing any report on card compatibility issue. Not sure where you get an idea it is picky on cards
