Spent the past two days with 901 (and mainly with the balanced amp board) and really loving it's combination of power/fullness of the sound, and the airyness/transparency of the presentation.  With most DAP/dac+amp combo it's always a compromise between these two almost opposite attributes but the 901+balance board gave me the best of both world.
 
Been very skeptical with build quality/stability etc but the 901 is quickly changing my views towards both the DAP and this brand as a whole.  Really impressed!

Have you guys tried using it as a DAC? I can't make it work with the included dock (tried both black and white cables). I've enabled the option in "Settings" already. 
 
SPDIF output works though.

We'd need the docking station for the DAC function.... not sure when that's coming tho

Yeah I heard about the dock but in the manual it says "For optical input you'll need the optional dock...." so I thought coaxial would work without one.

you may want to check out these options..... there are some coaxial in RCA out connector cables, not sure if they works or how's the quality tho.

There's already one included in the package. Works as a coaxial cable for SPDIF-out (i.e. the 901 as a digital transport)

They are selling a couple with coaxial-in AND rca outs -> specifically for using 901 as the DAC only

My bad... I actually meant to say HM901 as a DAC/amp..

where are you guys in HK? I got the minibox card but I probably wont be able to try it. Would you like to try? I will be going away for one of the longer trips so I think I might as well loan the card to one of you to A/B the difference. Are you interested?
