I haven't figured out yet how to make X3 display the album artwork. I have put a jpg file (<100k) in the same folder, but it doesn't display the picture.

X3 doesn't display picture in the folder. You need to embed it into the ID3 tag. That's probably the reason why only mp3 files display album art correctly.

is it possible that with current firmware it isn't supported yet, or, that it's only possible if you "mount" the album art in the metadata?

Thanks for your answers!
I will try the ID3 tag.
Not being able to display the album art is actually not a big deal for me.

I found that the electrical noises come out quite randomly when I play 24/174.6 Flac, I mean even for the same file.

Neither 24/192 or 24/96 WAV work actually, according to my test. I am not sure if that is a bug or not, or it is yet to be implemented into the firmware. But all other HD FLAC does work, in case you wonder.

After some retesting, I can confirm that X3 does play 24/96 and 24/192 WAV just fine. The wav files I used to test X3 previous are generated by a software that somehow doesn't play well with X3. Using another software, I was able to convert the some new wav files and all of them plays on X3 without a problem. Sorry for the hiccup.

Very excited for this. I have my desktop rig sorted, so next on the list is a portable stack. It sounds like it's on track to sound as good as the E17, which I very much enjoy the sound of, and the digital output will hopefully make this a great source to feed other DACs [=

Am I right in thinking the X3 only supports optical digital out. If so, what options does that leave in terms of compatible portable DACs?

Off the bat, Ibasso's D10 and D12, plus the DB-1and DB-2 (and the matched PB's). E17 has optical input but I'm not aware of any inline, passive coax to optical converter, however the X3 is basically the E17 with a player (screen, card reader, etc) instead of a USB input for its DAC, I don't see the point.

Coax-out, not optical.
