The Fiio X3 Thread.

Just got the Fiio X3 in. First impressions with the Fidelio S1 are very good, very smooth sound as know from the WM8740. Using it as a USB DAC with Audirvana on a MacBook Pro also works out of the box. This DAP is a total killer for the 130€ I paid for it.

Just got it in too, but haven't gotten to listen to it yet, filling the 64gig card that came with it.  My computer is a lil freeze prone when moving a high amount of files for prolonged periods of time, so I have to take it a lil slow.

I mean, take a look at this forum, and tell me there is another company that's more communicative than Fiio. Software is a tough thing to pin down a timeframe on sometimes. And software developers can be tough to get info out of sometimes. Sometimes because the dev doesn't know why a bug is happening or how the hell he or she is going to fix it. In some instances in software, it would be bad for PR to be completely open, because some people don't understand the complexity that goes in to coding. So it's best to just be vague. But FiiO really has done a stellar job keeping the community informed.

No, they should make it available now, bugs and all. How will we ever get this thread to 1000 pages unless we have plenty of bugs to complain about?

Ok - Just got my X3 last Friday.

First thing I did was update to the latest firmware on their web page.

Got my 64GB card with some music on it and went to listening in my car... LOVE the sound that comes out of this - sounds way clearer than my Alpine CD Changers.

Couple issues:

1. I set my player to start off where it last was - because I get in and out of my car often, and dont want to re-load tracks every time. This works a couple times and then BAM - I turn on the unit for the 3rd or 4th time and it just loads to the main menu - NOT to the last track I was on, and now I have to reload my position - which is VERY annoying while I am driving!

2. When I hit the PLAY ALL or CATAGORY options - it ONLY shows the default songs that are on the INTERNAL memory - it shows me nothing that is on the SD card - which is where all of my music is... so to play stuff from my SD - I have to go to browse and select this way. Also annoying - and makes me think I am doing something wrong.

3. Some small general wackiness - but I will keep my fingers crossed that this isn't the last firmware out there.

I am going to try deleting the songs from the internal memory to see if that will force it to default to the SD card.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Make sure you update the database (system settings: i think the x3 default to manual update).

I've noticed that sometimes my X3 forgets where it stopped too. I think it's a bug that will hopefully be fixed soonly (or whenever we finally get some updates)

Cheers

I said that I was left hanging!  Which is true.
I'm still guessing why it has been delayed, as I am sure others are too.
Why do people get so worked up so easily? Yes, I appreciate that Fiio actually communicates via this forum, but honestly, for those who have been waiting patiently, a little more information would have gone a long long way.  I am a software programmer too, and I know exactly what goes into providing a reliable update, so please, don't assume that I don't understand the complexity of what goes into a project such as this one.

Hey guys, when I copy music to my 64GB sandisk sd card, it takes a long time to finish.and the time is increasing album to album. Is that normal? Because the first few albums copied quickly. Now it's getting slower. Is there anything I can do?

I really hope that the new GUI would not look as cheap as on the pictures you posted before! Please make it look good and old school as the device looks. The pictures you showed look like some cheap 20$ GUI

If you are copying to the SD card through the X3 it will take forever, get a card reader, 100X faster.
