Thanks for the info. Yeah, an amp is probably the better way to go for the X1.

I'm going to wait a few weeks though. By then I should finally receive an amp from an Indigogo project I backed 6 months ago (Aumeo). Very curious to see how this will perform.

No it's not really up to an x3. The Fiio is more powerful and IMO delivers a better bass. It's also expandable with sd cards where the Touch isn't and also the Touch kind of locks you into ITunes which is an awful piece of software once you have a lot of music. I find it slow and clumsy in the way that it works and it kind of takes charge of your computer.

Totally agree.

Is there a way to create a startup delay, to allow the DAC (feeding from COAX) to lock onto the signal?

Hello,

I purchased a gen1 X3 a little over a year ago and thought it was great.  At the same time, i purchased a micro SD card, and have been using it since without ever removing the card.  Last week I removed the card to switch to a larger size, and now it seems that the card will not stay in! Whenever I push it in, I can always feel the spring immediately pushing it back out... It is a shame because I have kept it in immaculate condition and now its kinda useless as a portable player...

Has anyone else had an issue in which their micro SD card keeps popping out ??

I took a look at some pictures of the internals and it looks like the card reader is soldered in so for someone like me who has no soldering experience it doesn't seem like it would be easy to swap it with a new reader..

appreciate any advice..

thanks

Have you tried using a paper clip to poke it in? The spring on mine pops it out unless I push it a long quite far in. It may be that you have already checked this. With one of my older tablets, you had to push it in very deep and wasn't possible without very thin and long finger nail or something very thin.
The HS5 case holds the X3 so tight that it holds the micro SD card in without it needing to be clicked in. That could be a way of solving it if you bought that case. But you shouldn't have to do that.

I wouldn't know how to mend it if it is actually broken though.

I've experienced the same on mine after a battery change. My solution was to open up the X3 and put the card in before putting it back together again and it has worked ever since.

Just be careful with the "hold" button when opening it up.

I really wish there was an option to list all the songs in the library by the Title of the tracks.... That way, I can listen to songs in alphabetical order of the track titles, not the file names.

Back when I used to listen to music using Poweramp on my phone, it was such a useful feature. Now that I've been using the X3 for some time now, I'm realizing what a must-have feature that is for me. I mean, even with the better sound quality from the X3, that one single feature on Poweramp is almost enough to make me revert back to it.

My Audio technica ATH ES 7 broke down again, third pair. I give up on them; although, maybe I try to find new wiring. They were for me a perfect match with the X3, so I am sad. The ATH ES 7 had a vidid sound, especially in the upper mids, that was a really good match, also because it had a tight bass.

My new Sony A 1, is less pronounced in the upper mids, and with the bass les tight and slower, it is not such a great match (but the X3 ii sounds better on it!)

So I tried for the first time the equaliser. I am not a fan of those tools, but I guess with turning the bass a bit down and the upper mids up, it would do better. The Sony A 1 has a nice soundstage though.

My firmware is 3.3. Now it is very annoying to use the equaliser. When I turn from off to custom, sounds decreases dramaticaly.  And to be honnest I not hear so much the changements , when using the equaliser. Is that a problem with the 3.3 firmware, or the player? I not tried the 3.4, would that or other firmware help?
