The Fiio X3 Thread.

haha, no kidding.  I'm almost over the edge.  Still have a few things to consider.  I actually just got PM'd by a member, who lives in town, has an X3, and is willing to let me try it.  Just trying to nail down some details.

If you can audition it that would be the best.

Okay, this may have been covered somewhere in the last 790 pages or so, but I'd like to know, can the X3 use a 128Gb MicroSD card?

Yup. 128gb works fine, just don't skimp on cheap cards. Genuine Sandisk is the safest bet.

That combo sounds quite good. The DN-K is quite versatile, and the X3 certainly doesn't hold it back. It's a very enjoyable combo for classical, and handles rock rather well.

Thanks Saoshyant

Do you think that the DN-K is overkill for the X3 (even if the X3 is not holding back the DN-K) or should I get the DN 900 instead ?

In my mind, I'd say they're actually a good match. The eq on the x3 helps fill in where the dn-k can be lacking in bass at times, helping it with some bass heavier music. Yes, the amp section is far more than you'd need for an IEM, but the dac, eq, huge file variety, 24/192, plus USB dac features all make this a great dap. The X1 will be a couple months still, but it'll also be cheaper, so it all depends what features you're after. Plus of course there are tons of other options.

I´m not expert on this matter so I´d like to know your opinions about this.

I´ve just bought a Ipod Nano 16 gb but I´ve read very good reviews and opinions about Fiio x3. Do u think is a good idea to return Ipod and get the Fiio? Does it make difference in quality sound?

Thanks in advance

They have totally different sound sigs, the X3 is very warm and more hi-fi sounding while the nano has a great dynamic sound. I recommend keeping the nano and buying the X3! The X3 does not have a radio but plays sweet, sweet music..
I have both and will be keeping both. If you only have one choice than without a doubt the X3 by far!!!!!

I have to choose one of them. The price is quiet similar. Despite of I'm not expert on music players and headphones I think I'm able to appreciate good quality. I listen all kind of them such as rock, rap, pop, etc

Do you think that x3 is far better than Ipod nano?

Haven't heard a nano, but one thing to consider is that you can expand the storage on the X3, also it works as a DAC for a computer, so its like 2 devices in 1.

X3 is better sounding and has more space than nano but nano is slimmer , sleeker and better GUI ...

i just had a listen to an x3 in a shop using my own headphones and music, and at best it was an incremental increase in sq on my android phone. are my ears defective?
assuming that responsibility lies with moderate background noise in a busy mall, which is less than i normally experience on buses/subway, i've come up with this plan: buy my planned new headphones first, then try it again.if it still sounds ordinary, get a clip+ and e6 instead. have other people been underwhelmed by it? i genuinely went in there with cash in my hand, expecting to take it home five minutes later.

Thanks for fast replies.  I´ve decided to go for Fiio X3. Now the point is earphones or headphones. Honestly I´d prefer earphones because they are more comfortable. I had considered to buy Vsonic vsd3s or Vsonic gr07. My budget is between 50-100 euros.
