Based on how lots of other all in one combos sound and the fact that it is priced significantly lower than the x-sabre I would expect it to sound accordingly

I guess that i will go for the X-sabre then.
But i find it strange that an 3 year old x-sabre still is  one of the best sounding dac's  taking the price into account.

Just an FYI, but Grant Fidelity (North American distributor) is running a Digital Demo Unit and Open Box sale from Oct. 12-21, and there are some X-Sabre units available (black and silver, while supplies last). I'm not affiliated with them, but do know the owner. Some good deals to be had.

Ouch...................... $825 for a silver open box from Canada.  I have a mint one listed here on HF for $799 right here in the usa, need to raise price.

Native DSD is working nicely with latest Daphile private release. Highly recommended software for Matrix X-Sabre owners.

Thanks, but I really need to stick with JRiver for the management of my music library - I've spent years getting my library management right and changing software is a significant challenge as a result.

Running Daphile from a thumb USB stick won't impose any harm to your actual music collection. You should give it a try and check how they work in tandem. In my case, there is no turning back.

Please, check the following post:

A pair of NuForce HAP200 amps in monoblock mode is hard to beat. $350 each or $700 for the pair. But it needs volume control from the DAC or an intermediate preamp, so X-Sabre is not a great match in that respect.

The Lake People G109 is also very good. Not fancy looking, but sounds excellent, especially with Audeze headphones.

I hear very good things about the newest M-Stage balanced amps. Might be worth trying out.

In your X-Sabre review you mentioned Violectric V200 as your equipment .

Can i replace Lake People G109 to Violectric V200  ?

The only way to buy G109 is ebay .
I can get Violectric through the local store .
Another Amp in local store is Metrum Acoustics Aurix .

Yes, G109 and V200 are similar enough. Very obviously from the same family.

Anyone still using their X-Sabre?

Seeing if people are still using the ES9018S like the one inside the Matrix X-Sabre or is there a DAC that utilizes this chip better?
Haven't been focused on audio in awhile and wanted to see if the ES9018S is still up to par.

X-Sabre is still a very viable and solid design. No reason to upgrade for many users as it does everything they want it to do, and sounds great in the process.

There's a new version in the works but I don't know how long it will take or if there will be key improvements enough to justify a switch for current owners. We will see.
