And I guess they're circumaural. My ears fit the cup from bottom to top, with the back of the pads comfortably behind my ears. I just bugs me that I can sometimes feel my ears against the inside of the cup. How is the SQ affected by the HM5 pads?

I previously said this to bjaardker: "The sound is looser than with the stock pads, and with some resonance, but you might not mind it. Might be worth a shot!".
 
He doesn't seem to find that they change the sound very much though, so they might work for you.
 
And yeah, the ele dac is pretty darned good imo (regardless of the price tag). I might try out the $45 hifimedy (which is supposed to be an upgrade) just out of curiosity to changethings up. But definitely not because I feel the need to, as I really am quite happy with this ele dac and how it pairs with the E12/AD900X and the BH/WS99.

Btw, have you checked out Ektoplazm before? Tonnes of awesome stuff. For example, click play on this one, then skip ahead in that 1st track by clicking in the song display until you get around the 20 minute mark. WS99 bass heaven. Literally hours and hours of amazing music like this that you can stream or download (flac too!). Unbelievable.

The C&C BH pairs up very well with the WS99 imo. I like it better with the WS99 than the Fiio E12. The C&C BH is also quite a bit smaller, and has an 80 hour batter life (as opposed to 10-12).

The I know that the preference is the C&C BH, but the FiiO E12 works just fine with these as well.

In fact when combined with the ELE DAC, and with the v.1 bass boost turned on, they're amazing.

E12v1 + RPGwizard's Dolby foobar setup + WS99 = :D

With that combo of DSPs, the soundstage difference between the BH and E12 is almost negligible.

I've finetuned the foobar2000 config some more yesterday (I tweak on 0.1 increment basis and sometimes it happens that I find hey this works better like this even with very very small adjustments), sounded very pleasing from a quick listen (even better soundstage with a better FR balance; slightly stronger bass, the current has ever so tiny bit too little of it comparing versus stock foobar2000). Too bad I'm always so busy with my other hobbies that there is like no time left over for comparison/testing (need to be sure it's actually better so have to listen and compare against the older setting a while to become certain) and updating the settings but I'll try to update it sometimes soon, could update the foobar2000 version too while I'm at it. I hate updating, so boooooring. ^^

I'm not tuning for a certain headphone, it's meant to be universal. :p The frequency response is meant to have roughly same balance as stock foobar2000 (Dolby Headphone alters the frequency response so), so I basicly add EQing in order to restore "stock balance". Soundstage wise I find that it doesn't really matter all that much if I swap around headphones, I still seem to prefer those same settings with all my headphones, of course it sounds slightly different with different headphones but the HRTF just seems to "work" similarly with all the headphones, it's just mostly the "outer corners/edges/limits of the soundstage" which gets stretched out with headphones with larger soundstage and there's more room between the instruments with certain headphones etc but the positioning still remain as it should be.
 
It would be pointless to try also providing some EQ'd settings for a particular headphone as every1 have their own personal taste how it should sound like.

Bolded for truth. I love using your forward set up, but lately I've been playing around with the bass range a lot and aggressively tuning the subbass for my AD900x and WS99. I personally like it, but others might probably not. I really enjoy the effect you config has on the soundstage, though.

I'd be curious to test out your settings at some point. My S500s could use some stage :p
