I think the amount of bass the S500s possess is overrated. They have a bassy sound, but it doesn't hit hard at all. It's pretty soft and it's not very punchy either.

OK thanks for the input. I don't like "soft" hitting bass such as DT770 Pro, Denon D2000 and XB700 due to overemphasis in the subbass region vs lack of midbass but neither do I like too midbass focused bass output either such as Denon HP700 or K518/K81 DJs either, I need a balanced midbass vs subbass output. Like so:

Are there any places in the US still selling these for <$200? Seems like they're out of stock at the cheaper places.

What places we're selling >$200 and for how much? Is that including shipping/handling and from the US or Japan?

Derp I meant less than $200. $450 is a ripoff!

That is a rip!! I'll sell you mine for $449.98 and I'll only charge $.02 for shipping.

I may be selling both my WS99's and Esw9a to fund some other projects so if I do I'll let you guys know here first before I post them.

Thanks,

It seems like the only type of music anyone recommends for these are dubsteb, drum n bass, techno etc. How well do they do with pop, r&b, and alternative?

They just sound great with those types of music but in reality I'd say they sound great with everything except rock/metal. Need a little bit more treble for that one. They still sound really good but rock isn't their strong suit.

Demon, what's your preferred cans for rock/metal?

I love the Ultrasone HIFI-780's and DT990/250 pro's for rock. The HIFI 780's don't have a ton of detail but that signature sparkle of theirs can be intoxicating. At first it's down right obnoxious but after about 10-15 hours they calm down/ you get used to them and they come alive. I would say my signature can for Rock is probably the HE-400's. Huge sound stage great mids and the highs are just right. They lack in no department and will sound good straight out of a laptop and obviously better with proper amping. I wish I had my Arrow 3G when I owned them this last time (owned them 3 times) ... Probably would have never sold them if I had though and that money is going toward my LCD's I'll be getting this week. Take the good with the bad I guess

Thanks,

Finally read all 52 pages. Just came in to say I really don't like you guys very much. Every time I come to head-fi, I end up buying a new set. At first it was low end stuff to use while getting to school like the Koss KC75s and Senn CX300. Then after that I jumped to the UE TF10s, loved those and said I would never need another pair again. Boy was I wrong, ended up getting 4 more cheap (but well reviewed) IEMs since I needed a pair for going out and doing activities that I wouldn't care about breaking or losing. Now that I'm in need of a set of cans, I come to the experts hoping I'd get some help picking a pair around the $80-$100 range. After a few days of reading as many threads as I can, my budget suddenly became more flexible since these sound like they're exactly what I'm looking for and if I go with something else, I'd be missing out. My ears thank you, but my wallet despises you.

When will you know if you're going to be selling them? I'm interested if you are planning on letting them go. I'm hoping to get a pair asap. Thanks.
