I wouldn't mind trying out some classical with the WS99's and AD900X's (and with my sources and amps). If possible, could you or sofastreamer please provide me with a link to something that you think I should try? Thanks.

I found a TON of music from EMI Classical on Soundcloud. Not all of it is the best quality, but there's stuff from almost every period of classical music here.

Also, since I'm a sucker for baroque: https://soundcloud.com/classicalkingfm/nwfl-12-28-12-4

Anyone tried to smell the bass port after long listening session? I smell like something burning but nothing wrong with the driver or sound. Maybe because I've been burn in for a while too.

Just wanted to say thanks for those links. I am loving going through those EMI soundcloud tracks. You've spurned me onto really appreciating classical - thanks! Ever heard this one? It's and oldie but a goodie lol!

as i listen to edm but also to classical orchestra, how will the ws99 handle this genre? soundstage, imaging and detail good enough for symphonies?

I think it's going to depend on synergy with the source and/or amps. I'm not sure how great they would be for classical straight out of a more neutral or warmer source like my Clip Zip, but throw the C&C BH into that mix, and hell yes, they'll sound great for classical symphonies. Straight off of the ELE DAC, which brightens things a tad and also seems to increase the soundstage and resolution... and again hell yes. Also great when you throw the E12 into the mix, although my favorite combo so far with the WS99 and classical symphonies is the ELE DAC + C&C BH + WS99 (the SF switch on the C&C works really well at increasing the soundstage for live recordings, with surprisingly good imaging). So thanks to you and bjaardker, I am finding out that the WS99's are very good for classical! I don't think they'll beat the AD900X and E12 combo for classical any time soon, but they are sounding very enjoyable indeed.

Ok, maybe third times a charm.

Has anyone had the PRO700MK2 and can comment on its BASS compared to the WS99?

Pro700Mk2 to me was everything wrong with ATs older sound in the opposite direction. Instead of the overly sharp older peaky house sound. These was the complete opposite in that they were too dark and lacked any real detail.  It was ATs attempt at Bass heavy monitor. No offense but I hated that can..Dark, slow bass signature is one thing but too much bass with mids and highs that float on the bass with little definition is not my idea of a good bass can.

The WS99 will give you some extras with your bass. These will be somewhat tame compared to the Pro700MK2s sheer quantity of bass.. But will be very satisfactory in a new direction. Hows about some quality fast bass for once.. Hows about some nicely detailed highs and very nice deep mids where most of your music comes from. See this is the area that most bass cans just can't get it right but the WS99 shines here in spades. To me this is a bass can done right.. You can do more than just bass heavy music on these. Not so much on the ProMK2s..The Pro700MK2 remain the only can that I returned from AT ever..The WS99 is on a completely different level over the MK2s in over all quality of sound including the bass.

Where the WS99 will lack in quantity vs MK2s, it will make up for it in letting you actually hear what your music should sound like. If your curious about getting these. These are what the ProMk2s should have been. Give them a try it will surprise you just how much better the WS99 will sound for all your music..Dynamics such as speed, clarity, detail, and depth. can described the sound on the WS99.. ProMK2? I don't think so.

Funny that you mentioned it, I just ordered the Pro700Mk2 from Amazon. Was going to compare them to the WS99.
Thankfully Amazon has a dynamite return policy.
Still, I'll give them a listen first, maybe different amperage will make them sound better.
