Sennheiser HD 380 case: What are the elastic straps for?

You can see a few of the elastic straps on the above picture. Does anyone know what they are used for? They look like they might be used to restrain the cord, but I can't figure out how that would work.

Could be, but there's five of them and they have other apparent utility. The case seems to well-made to have random elastic tabs hanging out for no reason. They must be there for something, I just can't figure out what.

Different options for putting the jack in, depending on how you curl up the cord, so it doesn't bang around? I don't know, good question. I agree that they are probably not a random design feature.
