AEDLE VK-1 Limited Edition Headphones

Flavor of the month.

My VK-1 are the least neutral of anything I've owned but they are fun to listen to and they are gorgeously made. I listen to mostly hip-hop when out so the curve matches well.

My biggest concern at the moment is the fact that I have to keep plugging in and unplugging the cable when I am packing and unpacking the headphones fearing that I will damage the connector while it is connected to the headphones while the soft carrying case sits in my bag while I am out and about. A hardcase would be good, and I will be out shopping for one online.

I remember my pair came with a printed warning not to unplug/plug the cord too often (what ever that may be)... and I think in this thread one person noted that the socket became loose inside the cup. So be careful...

I am not arguing your point, but just curious when you said "least neutral", what were you referencing to? Some models of headphones or actual studio monitors? Please share as I would love to learn something from you.

I'm fairly new to the hobby; hardly one to teach, sorry. But it seems we both have VK-1 and DT1350s. To me the DT1350s are more accurate in the tonal range where the VK-1s are stronger on the low end and rolled off at the top. Therefore I'd call them not as neutral as others I've owned.

Noted on your observation. Thanks for sharing.

I'm torn between the Beoplay H6 and the VK-1s. I auditioned the H6s and loved them but the VK-1s are so tempting. Anyone have both?

Depends on your source. I hate the H6 with my NW-ZX1 and need to sell it; I used it for like a week The VK1 is a great pairing with it, but not so great on planes for things like isolation. The H8 is a nice option and very different from the H6. I have a comparison between the H8 and VK1 in the H8 thread.

YMMV of course.

Thanks! I think I will sleep on it and pull the trigger tomorrow but, for right now I am leaning towards the VK-1.

So I just received my Vk-1 in the mail and they are exactly what I had hoped they would be. I've never liked the signature of an on ear headphone but this one has won me over. I have been listening for around an hour and although the fit is tight it is also very comfortable in my opinion. However, I have noticed an issue with the cable/connection to the headphones and it seems like I may have been one of the people to receive a defective pair. The jack into the headphone is slightly loose and I can feel it shift if I press in the cable. I've heard this was a common issue with most of the early adopters and I am not too worried about it as the connection itself is very solid. The cables are beautifully made and don't transfer any noise when rubbed against things. Unfortunately I think the cable with the microphone and controls has a poor connection as it sometimes shifts the sound from L to R. I'll email Aedle and I am sure they will replace the cable. The loose jack is not much of an issue as it sill feels solid and functional but the broken cable is pretty disappointing as it can really ruin the song when one channel just cuts to 50% randomly. Aedle is a brand new company and I am sure they will get these problems sorted out soon as they gain experience in the field. On the positive side the other two cables are flawless and I feel like these are going to be my go to headphones for the coming months.

This is just a preliminary review and I will probably be back to add some more after I've spent more time with the cans.

- Update: So I spent a few more hours with the Vk-1 and it really is an awesome sounding headphone. Once you get them bent to the correct fit (directions in manual) they are perfect. After around two hours they can start to feel a little tight but a 5 minute break was all I needed to get right back in. Everything would be perfect at this point but unfortunately the second cable of the three they sent is already falling apart. The cable itself is fine, but the shielding around the terminate slides off and can move along the cable. It is so sad because it looks and feels like a really high quality product but the experience just isn't behind it. Hopefully their next iteration will prove better.

Just heard back from the company and they were having an issue with their supplier. They are sending me two cables express shipping, free of charge.

Does anyone else have an issue where the jack goes into the L headphone? Mine arrived yesterday and the connection wobbles around quite a bit. It feels securely plugged, and sounds great, but it doesn't feel very secure at all. Mine also had a metal sleeve loose - it didn't come with any paperwork or adapters either:confused_face_2:

Hmm, what else you have in the box? You should have 3 wires, one with mic, a card with serial number, soft cary case and then there was some kind of an adapter.. Mine connection doesn't wobble at all. Maybe your retailer sold you an used headphones?

My connection wobbles as well and I had two defective cables (Mic and 1.2 m). I sent them an email and they are sending me a whole new set of cables. I am still debating if I should send mine back to get the connection replaced so it doesn't wobble. As for the contents Tibor is completely right.

Well mine have gone back and am waiting for a reply from the retailer about a replacement or refund - I really like how they sound but at this price they should be a quality product

i owned this headphone since last year (Aedle Vk-1 Limited), this is my fashionably weekend headphone.
good for looks also...
sound quality is great for me paired with my AK240 gold...
bass and mids are more i usually considered in getting an iem or hp..
