This review is to compare Hisoundaudio i-MODI-1 to Apple earbuds.
Hisoundaudio has two new earbuds, i-MODI-1 and i-MODI-2.   i-MODI-1 has mic, i-MODI-2 has volume control; they are supposed to sound the same.
My two Apple earbuds were from iPod shuffle 1 (bought two weeks before shffle 2 came out) and iPod Classic 3. All earbuds have more than 200 hours of burn-in time.

You get earbuds, two sets of foam with cut-out center, one warranty card printed in Chinese. (Card is not shown in the photo.)

Left is i-MODI-1, right is Apple earbuds.

The materials used are very similar to Apple's, but without stress relief.

The sources are Sansa Clip and Clip plus. (Why Clip? Why Apple earbuds? Because lots of Head-fiers have them.)

Review starts here:

The basic: Sound quality is very similar between i-MODI-1 and Apple earbuds.

The good: Mid centric with a dose of constant low mid/high bass. Warm and relaxing sound. Sound quantity wise (the middle), if Apple is 10, i-MODI-1 is 12-14. i-MODI-1 mid is more forward than Apple earbuds.

The bad: The treble rolls off, with occasional sparkle;  sound quantity wise, if Apple is 10, i-MODI-1 is mostly 7-8, sometimes 11-13, and it's hard to predict how a song will behave. The bass has less impact; if Appls is 10; i-MODI-1 is 6-8. The higher bass sometimes blurs the mid.

The ugly: Similar sound quality. The difference is sound tuning. If you EQ your music, just pick either one.

The value: i-MODI-1 and i-MODI-2 can be had for $35 - $45 from ebay ($30 - $40, plus shipping $5). If you can only get Apple earbuds at list price $30, the difference is not a lot. However, authenic Apple earbuds can be had for under $10 nowadays, the choice is really not too difficult.

The footnote: Many legit daily deals sites often have Apple earbuds for cheap.  If you are not sure whether their sites are legit, just call their toll-free 800 phone numbers. When you have to buy it from an ebay seller, you better check their store first. If they sell hundreds of items, from washing machine to toaster,  it sounds like a safe bet. A bad seller usually sells more than one fake goods, you better check whole store before you buy.
