Well I'm experiencing upgrade-titus and it's making me upgrade to a better headphone. But you're right, that the ps500 is amazing and maybe I should get a Schiit asgard and Bifrost and see how it play out.

I just bought the GS1000i used at a nice price, and I'm on the 2nd day of listening. I also own the SR80e, 325e and 325is, and
play my music at low to medium volume through an ALO the Island connected to my Retina Macbook Pro, playing Pure Music 3/iTunes files and Amarra for Tidal - also through my iPhone 6s and iPad Air. They've been well burned in.

Let me just say that given a clean file and source, they sound AMAZING. I say listen for yourself and don't listen to all of the naysayers!

When listening to classic rock, jazz, whatever they bring the listener in front of the original event; they are so good
they are somehow capable of time/space travel!

My other Grados are nice but give by comparison a somewhat simplified "view" through a much smaller window, with various
aspects obscured or compressed to give the effect of listening to a good pair of bookshelf speakers through a good system. The 1000i's remind me of listening to modern Quad electrostatics
- everything is just there, full life size and full bodied, warm, 100% believable, exciting....and utterly captivating.

In short and in my experience, all of the great reviews are spot on...many of which can be read at Grado's web site, (also check our WhatHifi's).

For me, these are end game phones.

With low to medium volume listening - I'm not into listening loud -  they give me total, immersive enjoyment along the lines of a $100,000+ world class sound system.

I owned a used GS1000 (#6xxx with square rods , 4 conductor cable) and now a pair of GS1000 (#7xxx is actually an "i" model since it has round rods , 8 conductor cable ) Both GS had the same "i" drivers .

If we suppose they have the same play then time if there is any difference this will be caused of the 8 conductor cable (parallel cables lowers the resistance and increase the capacitance).

I made my own research for sometime and tried many versions of grado phones & drivers and found that pre"i" drivers had "gold" magnet , black glue at the solder pads and yellow glue that glue the voice coil on the diaphragm.
Then "i" drivers had white glue at solder pads , "metal" magnets , and red glue at the voice coils!
Both voice coils configuration is axactly the same!
The "i" drivers has also better bass response but I think that's because it has a younger/powerful magnet ,
