I am an EE student and i guess you could call me an audiophile. I have spent a majority of my time and money on the system i have in my car going to comps and listening. bad news is that my car has had some problems and i am going to have to sell it. I dont have time to rebuild kick panels, boxes blah blah in a new car but driving around listen to the sound of a stock system just pisses me off.

I have been reading about higher end headphones. i need to get something! if my budget is 300-500 ish and i am ok with getting used phones as long as they are in good shape what would you suggest?
In this price range my first thought is that i should be more focused on some kind of headphone amp more than the phones them selves. I am not even sure what most of you use when it comes to amplification. then again with out having to worry about cancellation and speaker placement i could be wrong.

I am open to any suggestions or advice! :D
i live in Springfield ,MO so if you know of a place i could go to listen to some of the higher quality headphones that would be great! If i am going to buy something i usually want to listen to them first

I don't think you're meant to have headphones on when driving. But for that purpose I'd suggest a pair of good isolating closed backs or some IEMs.
