Hello fellow head-fi'ers

I am going to buy a new set of cans,  I have narrowed it down to these:

AIAIAI - TMA-1 Studio or Beatport (not top on my list but i think they sound pretty decent and are surprisingly comfortable.)
AKG K550
AKG Q701
ATH-A900X
ATH-ESW9A

I already own ath-m50's and I really like them but the earpads are now oppressively scratchy and cracked.

as a side note,  does anyone know how to change the avatar?  I cannot seem to find a place to upload.

Thank you all for your wisdom in the matter.

You better try some for yourself...

...or maybe write what you want, why you want, and what you listen to

Also what's the purpose, indoor or outdoor?
Also do you have an amplifier (large home amp or portable) or are you considering getting one?

I listen to almost all kinds of music, acoustic, electronic, hip hop, blues, jazz, rock etc,  not much classical with the exception of J.P. Sousa.  they will be for in home video editing, music, and some outdoor for when im walking around.  I do not have an amp for the portable.  At home, I will be plugging them directly into my hi-fi or computer.  I plan on getting an amp in the future but not too soon.

Thank you, Lou

If you're planning on walking around outside then that pretty much leaves you with the esw9 or maybe the Tma1. Other than that, the K550 is my favorite out of the cans you listed.

why do you say that?  I am fairly new to te subject and am curious as to why you would say that.

I think it's because those are both closed cans, and are the only ones that are better suited to the outdoors without an amp.
But considering the new information I would add the UE6000 to the list, or if you're willing to push the boat out, the Sennheiser Momentum.

I demod the ue 6000's,  they sounded pretty good and were super comfy.  I can get them for about 80 USD.  I still want to demo the akg k550's unless they will be unusable without an amp.

For $80 I would jump on the UE6000. Thats cheap enough to get another pair of headphones with the change.

I have an arrangement with my employer.  Its sort of a reward for loyal work and also helps the employees know the products intimately so as to assist with recommendations.

I've owned the TMA-1 Studio and heard the TMA-1.  I would stay away ;/  They are nice at first with great bass punch and detail until you notice that the vocals are messed up.
