Another thing I have noticed that the 167's like a little juice. /// Momentums and the 1R due fine without amping.

true true true

In the 1R it must be because they have a veeery low impedance of 8 Ohms.

That's a first slightly "not-to-my-liking" comment, I need equally much subbass and midbass and you make it sound like these are subbass oriented. I like hard hitting impact in the bass rather than lots of soft deep rumble but also midbass only without subbass is equally bad, about equally much of both is preferred in my case. I need that especially for hardstyle as the bass uses both midbass and subbass at the same time to create hard hitting impact in bass and if there's uneven amount of them then it won't sound that good. This is where Q40 shine for me as it outputs about equally much subbass vs midbass.

Maybe it will blossom but I doubt too much.  These are soft deep bass rumble as I hear it.  It is what I prefer in bass.  Now the M-100 has more of what you're looking for.  It is the perfect blend of deep to midbass that I've heard to date.

Yes, I also would call the 167s sub bass oriented but there's no such thing as "soft deep rumble". This sub bass is, as stated from some others here, more of the punchy kind. Nonetheless, the 167 would maybe improve if they had a little bit more midbass...."in your face"^^ (also depending on the music you prefer). Hmm...I should try them amped and possibly we can mess around a little bit towards that.

Sounds like 1R might be more fit for me comparing K167 vs 1R as I think if pairing it with ZO which tends to increase subbass slightly more in comparision to midbass I'd think it would get pretty even, there's still K267 though. Also I love forward / in-your-face vocals and almost want the vocals to SHOUT AT ME IN MA FACE (ok now exaggerating slightly but still yea I like in your face vocals ^^). I've yet to hear a midrange I thought was too forward, would be interesting to try 1R just to see something that has a bit more forward midrange than I'm used to.

Not soft, my mistake.

Sorry but these will have to transform into a different headphone for this to happen.

Can't argue with this.

In your case I would search for an amp which extends the soundstage a bit (frankly I don't have a clue which one could do the trick). Makes me curious now....I should give the 1R another listen...if I just had a portable amp within reach.

Also has anyone heard the Pioneer HDJ2000 to compare? I wonder if they have a slightly similar sound sig although I'd imagine the Pioneers have much more bass impact (I used to have them and they had pretty powerful bass response especially when the track called for it).

I am also interested in this part.
If someone has heard both, please respond!

I'm wondering how the treble of the Sony MDR 1R performs compared to the K167...

Considering pulling the trigger just to test this Thursday. It's just one button away. 249€. Tough decision.

The fact that they have more bass (basshead levels for sure) also wheights.
