FWIW I have the HA160 & HD160 and hardly use them any more since getting my RX3B & CL -dB

Burson Conductor or Burson Soloist with Schiit Bifrost DAC?

Have you ever considered Violectric line up? I'd bet the V200/V100 would be better choice.

Never heard of it and likely would not consider it because I need preamp outs.

Well, then you should do some researches then, imho and many folks out there who have had and are having the V200 will prefer it than the Soloist.

I have Lake People G109A similar sound signature to V100 and Conductor V2+. One day I might also try the amp with Schitt Bitfrost DAC.

The ESS DAC implementation on CV2+ it’s not bad, not really that bright (at least for me). CV2+ offers you 3-in-1 functions of USB DAC, headphone amplifier, and pre-amplifier with lot of connectivity.

I recently purchased a soloist 160 from ebay. I have had a burson 160 since it first came out. On my 160 I upgraded the fuse to a silver hifi tuning fuse, So my initial comparison was the 160 with a hifi tuning supreme silver fuse. I can see why some people would prefer the 160 with the hifi tuning fuse. It seemed a bit better defined than the soloist which could be a bit opaque sounding with the stock fuse. I upgraded the fuse in the soloist 160 with a hifi tuning supreme fuse and let the fuse flesh in a bit. Well I have to say the burson is no longer opaque sounding in any fashion. after the fuse upgrade It is clearly a better sounding headphone amp then the buson 160 even with a hifi tuning supreme fuse in it. It gets a bit closer sounding to the soloist with the supreme fuse upgrade but the soloist is definitely more transparent sounding than the 160. And the 4 watts definitely gives the soloist a bit more horsepower for driving headphones. tried the newer buson conductor 3x and found it to have a signature that was a result of the switching power supply they now use. I got rid of the conductor 3x and went back to the 160 it sounded better. I recommend a fuse upgrade on the soiloist 160 if anyone has it. is well worth the effort. The sound gets a healthy amount better for the minimal effort.
