Lots of people may have mentioned this already, but man I hate you Dsnuts lol... I also hate the fact that I live in Canada.
My Visa taken out of my wallet and I am heading toward Futureshop . ca.

i got to listen to XBA2 and they sounded nothing close to my likings but trying XBA3 i was shocked to see how much they opened up by simply adding a twitter.
 
I do agree they sound a bit metal type of sounding but none of that matters if your not looking analytical headphones.
 
i still notice nice instrument seperation and they are not muffed.
 
Bass is tight and goes deep even on POP songs, Dance and Trance it really takes off deep down.
 
My mission was to find headphones that do not go over the ear, have iphone remote and offer nice clarity as well as having a good bass but not super powerful.

The more I use them the more I actually love the highs on these. Sure they might sound a bit armatureish but to me the transparency in the highs are actually one of the more intriguing aspects of the sound. These actually sound like speaker tweeters and perform like so more than earphone highs. That is why I mentioned these sound like high end speakers in my ears more than anything.  Jazz and rock sounds unbelievable on these. I mentioned on my first post about these how I had to get used to the highs. I realized so many of my earphones and headphones have exaggeration happening. I think the highs are represented really well on these actually. I have them in my ears as I am typing this listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Guitars just pop on these like no other earphones I have. Agreed on the pop n trance on these. Can't get enough.

Classical is off the hook on these by the way. Instrument separation is something special on these. Grand scale of larger recordings have great presence. May times you will have an out of head experience listening to classical on these. Instrument timbre is so enjoyable. I have a feeling this one you are going to enjoy quite a bit. Look forward to your take on them. You guys in Canada are seriously lucky is all I can say.

Hey dsnuts, as usual it if after I do a dsnuts-taneous purchase (and while waiting for the goods to arrive) that I started doing a bit of learning about what I purchased lol!
 
Pretty much general positive opinions about these puppies :)

eke2k7 obviously likes the xba3's. But what is your take on the below impressions of his?:

I owned the MDR-EX700LP for several years. This was Sony's flagship in-ear model until the release of the MDR-EX1000. While I liked certain aspects of the EX700LP's sound (particularly the bass presentation), I was never thrilled by neither the earphone's overall sound quality nor its ergonomic design. It was because of my lack of enthusiasm for the EX700LP that I never ventured to try the EX1000.
 
In 2012, Sony introduced their very first in-ear product-line to utilize balanced armature drivers. This product-line is known as the XBA line. While they released several different XBA models at different price-points, it was the quad-driver model, which was to be the most highly anticipated within the audiophile community.
 
The XBA-4 is Sony's newest flagship in-ear model. To my knowledge, it is the one of only two quad-driver universal-fit IEM currently available; the other being the Westone 4. However, unlike the Westone 4, which incorporates dual bass drivers, the XBA-4 has a single bass driver and a single driver dedicated to sub-bass frequencies. I pre-ordered the XBA-4, but shortly after it arrived, Sony sent headphones.com a sample of the entire XBA-line. When I had the chance to spend time with each of the earphones, I discovered that I actually found that the XBA-3 sounded better to me. The XBA-4 is brighter and a bit sharper. It seems to me that the XBA-4's sound signature is more revealing than that of the XBA-3, but at the same time the XBA-3 sounds more natural and balanced. If I had known that I was going to be given the opportunity to review the entire series, I probably would have gone with the XBA-3 instead.

Coming from a guy who has the xba3's on the way, I don't mind reading that.
 
Edit: my guess is that the xba3 would have ended up higher on his list (and would have probably been given it at least a "B" value rating if he reviewed it at the $130 future shop price)
