Hi,

I never had much experience with any headphones beyond the 10$ range until about a year ago when I stumbled upon Skullcandy Aviators in a local electronics store. The forums I read back then had good reviews for this product. Reading this forum I see some people strongly disagree and I respect that. I am not interested currently in replacing my headphones. I enjoy their quality. I am no expert and I can tell they are far superior to the basic 10$ headphones.

My question is, what kind of DAC in the 250$ range would be suitable to these headphones? I do not want a fiio cause I am guessing I may regret it later if I upgrade to better headphones in the near future. I was thinking about the NuForce uDAC-2 and the NuForce uDAC-2SE? I do not understand the difference between them except the price tag being 2x. I also considered the ODAC. I read about in these boards. I understand the uDAC-2 has an amp and the ODAC does not have an amp. Do I need an amp? I do not even like listening to music in high volume. How does an amp improve music quality?

Please help me or direct me to the right thread so I can make a wise purchase.
