I was looking into getting the STX to use with my Astro A40. My question is, I use the Astros to broadcast so would I use the mixamp that comes with the astros or would I lost the use of the mixamp. Would I connect the mixamp to the soundcard or its that just a waste of the soundcard. Thanks.

With the Essence STX, you should no longer have a need for the Mix-amp.
I think (guess) you can plug the Astro40 headphones straight into the Essence STX.

I had the Astro A40 and have tried to use it with my STX with mixed results. The first thing that needs to be said is that you will need a 6.3mm connector to directly attach your Astro A40 headset to your STX. I've done this but I have to say that it didn't sound very good. In fact, sometimes I couldn't even get both channels working. It took a fair bit of cable twisting to get it to respond properly.

You can attach the Mixamp to the STX via SPDIF Optical to TOSLINK cables. Not sure what the use that will be though.
