The comment by Mr Giskard is the very reason why it's best when possible, to audition audio gear before buying.
I wasn't able to do that with the GS-Xmk2 but I'm very happy with how it makes my HD-600's sound.
IMO the SQ alone is worth the asking price, but aswell as great SQ, there's also good looks and the build quality takes some bettering.

He was not aware of the existence of the MKII.  He said he liked the design of the GS-X, but that the parts used were cheap.  I still have no idea what parts he is talking about.

I really hate when people talk out of their @ss  like Discard (wink to you Wink).  I cannot believe that someone would post a disparaging comment like that with nothing to back it up. I really wish I could know his motivation. what a waste.

All I can say is my GS-X improved on my Liquid Fire (and cost $1250+$500 in tubes less). Upgrading the modules to the Dynalo+ has only made a fantastic amp even better. I've had my GS-X for a year now and really haven't looked into picking up new dynamic headphone amps. It drives my IEMs (with zero noise floor), HD800s, TH900s and LCD-3s so incredibly well, why bother looking?
 
Simply put this is the best amp I've owned/heard.

I have not lived with the GSX yet (coming soon), but I have heard it with my hd800 at meet and spent quite of bit of time at that station -- jumping back and forth between that one and the BHSE 009 station. Off the same source, the GSX with HD800 was by far (my opinion here) the closes thing to the Stax set up. While i preferred the detail retrieval of the Stax rig, the GSX with the Senns had a much wider presentation. I feel that getting a different dynamic amp would only be a lateral move. I may consider some 2A3 amp in the future for my the Senns, but if I really wanted to improve (the way things sound to me) I would have to get the BHSE+009, and we all know the price jump that would be. 
 
Totally agree with MH! The GSX is amazing. I am done with amplification. Now my focus is on improving my source section.

Fellas, why are you so upset? I did not even make a comment in this thread. I commented on the GS-X amplifier on the Sennheiser HDVD800 thread because someone asked how the GS-X fared against the HDVD800 and that someone copied and pasted my comment over here. Now why did that person do that when I also mentioned that GS-X was something I liked a couple of years ago but ultimately sold because it was never what I really needed?
 
Did that person copy my comment here where you'd feel more comfortable at tearing it apart? I wouldn't have even commented here if I didn't stumble across my name by accident and read all of your fine compliments.
 
Now it I wanted for my comment to have some echo, don't you think I would have posted it here? I really didn't and it was only a courtesy because someone asked.

I am no longer in this company. I tried to organize an international campaign and organize dealership for the US/Canada market. The management was short-sighted and so nothing could be done. This website would still be in Croatian if I hadn't translated it. Admittedly, I could have done a better job at it but it was all I could do for the resources that I had. 
 
Now I am sorry if my GS-X comments offended some. I really have no intention nor time to discuss something I no longer have nor that I had recently. As Justin noted, I was talking about the first version of the amplifier, not the second one.

In my recent experience with SR 009s & HD 800s I can agree.  However, it turns out the 009s were not fully broken-in and toward the end of my time listening  they began to take on a dimension that was so fantastic it was like 'from another world'  . . . meaning it was good!   In my experience the Amp / Source / headphones / cables / power supply all play their part.  The trick seems to be in identifying and then upgrading the weak link in the signal chain.  Hearing the improved sound is the ultimate test.
 
edit:  Don't mean to take away anything from the HD800 experience which can be absolutely fantastic even with the V200 single ended amp.  The GS-X mk 2 will bring the sound quality to another level I'm sure.

Take a look at post #1194 and its source chain. Mr.Sneis suggested that your post should be (cross)posted in this thread. I did it. It was DefQon who asked how Sennheiser HDVD 800 compare to HeadAmp GS-X.

And I wasn't that impressed, I don't know what amp was being used though, so with the GS-X they will probably sound a lot better.
The best headphones I heard at that meeting were the TH-900's, I'm normally not a bass lover, but I did like the bass from those headphones.
I took my 009's / BHSE to that meeting for others to have a listen, but didn't listen to them myself.

Sennheiser HD 800 can give quiet different results with different amplifiers (even when they have approximately the same price). Different combinations suits different people, tastes, loudness levels, music genres, etc.
 
I've heard my Sennheiser HD 800 as both engaging and unengaging/dull depending on amplifier.
