I use my AD900X for BF3. Excellent in every way. The best comfortable gaming can with bass I have ever used over any can I have ever used. The stage the bass the 3D sense of space not to mention the pillow like comfort. These are the best gaming cans I can recommend to anyone. Music is awesome on them too.

And don't forget movies... awesome. The AD900X's are so good that I actually want to get into gaming now because of them lol! Actually, I have a PS3, and a friend game me Resistance... what am I waiting for!

The AD900X for the cost. I think everyone should own a pair. They are more than versatile. The air the stage. Music is one thing the comfort level is another.. They do need a good burn in to shine but once done they are excellent cans in every way.  Try em out with gaming Wayne your in for a very immersive experience.

So... what did you get? What was wrong with your past AT cans, btw?

Speaking of gaming with the AD900X, btw, playing Journey with the AD900X on my ears was absolute heaven.

Would I be right in thinking the AD900x is competing with the Fidelio X1 and the MA900? Has anyone heard the AT's and one of the others? Looking for an open headphone mainly for gaming and these 3 seem to be the best choice atm. Want something I can wear for hours on end so Priority would be Comfort > Relaxed treble but still detailed (AD900's were unbearable) > Bass impact.

I don't use headphones for gaming but depends on if you want more bass presence than go for the X1's.  Both are extremely comfortable but AD's are lighter.  The X1's treble is more relaxed but still quite detailed.  The AD's have a bigger stage.

Just put my AD2000X up in FS forum in case anyone is interested in picking one up in CONUS without importing

my past ATs and my ears were not in sync....the soundstage, somehow i just "dint get it" ...
maybe i was too INSIDE the music...they were all over the place. But definitely BIG sounding.
Hope this new AD900x will kill all my current midtier headphones,  then i can retire from the chase in bliss.
U guys better be RIGHT... :p

Agreed. Been following this thread since I got back from ces, listened to all the AT phones at their both, and ad900x were the standout, huge stage and far cleaner than the ad700x. Anyway got mine today from amazon, just blown away. They are replacing my much loved denon 1001s.
Happy listening. So far I've listened to black sabbath, husker du, Hans Zimmer, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, steely Dan, muse. No disappointment at all.
My source is galaxy nexus streaming mog, nexus louder Apk and noozxoide eq.
Someday I'll have to try them with an amp or better source but mog is 320kbps and these old ears probably can't hear well enough to reap the rewards of anything to fancy.
Enjoy your phones

Is the cable on the AD900X removable...? screwed on?
confused.gif

TRYing to find fault with this can....tough.
Maybe the "wings" on the head is a tad soft, making the cups hang onto the ears instead of sitting on the head..
should suit those with longer heads. :p

All of the new A***X and AD***X headphones AT released so far don't have removable cables. It would require a DIY. I can find a fault with the AD900X! I don't like its earpads afterall, haha. The W5000 Earpads I ordered two weeks ago should arrive this week. I'll post a picture or two showing how it fits and looks on the AD900X if people are interested.

And yes, AT gave me a reply saying the W5000 Earpads should fit. (Have to scroll down to the very bottom) Also they said the AD series will come to the U.S. in March according to a question posted with mine.

What don't you like about the earpads? And what is the advantage of the W5000's pads?

I don't like the stock pads because most of the time I feel like they are resting on my ears after I take off the headphones. To put it visually, it seems to slide down a little without me noticing over time. Honestly, if I'm wearing my headphones for 5+ hours everyday after work, I don't need to feel it every time I take them off. My previous primary A900 headphone used the W1000 earpads, and the design ergonomics are pretty much the same with the W5000 earpads minus the materials used. I LOVE those earpads and I expect it'll be the same for the W5000.

The advantage? To make my ears much more comfortable, and to not have the dreadful fear of feeling that strain on my ears whenever I take the AD900X off. I plan to keep this headphone for at least 3 years unless Audio-Technica comes out with something more awesome at the price point the AD900X retails for.

Thanks for the response! Personally find these headphones/wings/pads to be ridiculously comfortable. But if I move around, they can slide down a bit. It was pointed out to me that you can bend the top bands inwards such that the wings touch together, and this apparently helps keep them tighter on.

oh its not screwed on...the cable. thanks.

And how do u take off the pads...is there a clip on plate of sorts which the pad wraps over ?
The wrap over part of the pads feels terribly thinnnnn...could tear any moment with excessive force.
Near the hinge, the edge of the pad is unreachable unless u rotate the pad..hmmm

Start from the thin edge and finger it around to the thick side. It's pretty thin, but it's actually more durable than it looks. You work counter-clockwise, coming up from the right side. After you get the majority of the earpad off, you should be able to wiggle the rest of it off.
