I'm -really- excited!! I'll be using my friend's Sugden Headmaster for a week or two until I get my new amp. Let's just pray these are the ones. I've been way to "Chef" in the last year.

I'm getting them from Headless, and they look to be in beautiful condition. I hope they sound as good as they look. I've basically decided on the MPX3 for an amp, and possibly sending it in for a few upgrades later on. For a source, I think it's going to be Jolida, MH CD25 or Rega 2000. Your guess is as good as mine! Interconnects? <Looks over at Biggy> Those'll be mine in a week. I'm buying his active force interconnects.

I've read from many that the HP-1000 are "The One" for many, and are equal but different than the R10 or Omega II. It's my understanding the HP-1000 are among the elite. We'll see! I'll let you all know how it all fairs over the next couple of weeks.

Hytron 6SN7 or Sylvania VT231 tubes work best in the MPX3 although there are many other choices.

They do sound different to the R10's

"Equal but different"?

Is that the same as "Separate but equal"? Sorry, couldn't resist.

It's all an oxymoron to me.

Different strokes for different folks, as always.
The more of these high end phones I listen to, the more I am convinced there is no such thing as "the One".

There is a spoon.

It's more like Pokemon. Gotta have them all!

When I had said "Equal but different" I was referring to the elite class of headphones. In my opinion the R10, Omega II, HP1000, and Orpheus belong to the highest level of "headphondum". Consequentially, they are also the most expensive. I believe them all at the same plateau, but they are at the height of their respective flavours.

"Headphonedum"

I don't think I've heard that one yet. Heheh.

I think the height of each peak those phones are on are at different heights relative to each other, but they are indeed at the top of each mountain.

Although, some of those mountains are harder to climb for various reasons.

Already bought my nice headphone (Banana) stand!

A place near by carries three different types of headphone stands! To all you Vancouver / Burnabites (?) The Real Canadian SuperStore rules. As if you didn't already know that!

Edwood:

Please elaborate on your separate mountains different heights relative to eachother analogy. I am very curious about your views on what the mountains are, and how tall they are in your persepective.

Woohoo! The MPX3 will be on it's way tomorrow! I just need to sort out my source situation over the next few weeks.

Edwood: Still waiting on that analogy explanation!
