Strange that about JDS labs, as I'm a big fan, in my opinion great sounding products, and the customer service really is amazing. But eachto his own I suppose. The C421 really pairs well with the Shure's.

I'll pm lillee about the cable.

I like the shure sound.... I find they are very natural and easy to listen to (I am talking about SE215) but I have owned a few pairs of shures and I am definately a fan of the sound signature and overall quality. They are not "treble head" headphones but for me they have enough treble.

im a bit of a treble head, so take my comments with a pinch of salt, but with the new cable they pretty much satisfy my treble cravings :)

i suggest you try some upgrade cables.

k .. sorry for that .. for a moment i thought everyone was like me
rolleyes.gif

i did ask him about this .. actually from march 2012 I've been behind this same thing ... the treble roll off issue of the se 535 ..

he told me that even with his $ 3k setup .. the treble roll off cant be solved.. however what can be done is using better source - amps ....

thats the reason i went for the greenhouse gh-erc-dms ... which are essentially brainwavz b2 clones ... treble tilt ..sibilance(cured with foam tips) and super tight bass ..you should know you already own the dba 02 mk2 ...

i would suggest you take them off sale, i've a feeling you will miss them ...they compliment the shures a lot .. i normally like using my shures during sunny days and weekends,
greenhouse everytime else...

i actually prefer the greenhouse with live recordings ..and jazz vinyls (youtube) and chess ...

Already sold, I'm enjoying the Shure's with this cable, and am probably going to reshell them when I get ear impressions.
I don't think I'll miss the DBA

well, using a silver LOD and a silver plated copper cable is not very good, mids are super detailed, but also super up front, the bass is pretty good actually, with better mid bass definiton, but the highs are way behind in the mix now, and also the soundstage is gone :frowning2:

lets try a SPC LOD, or maybe get a copper cable for the SE535 and keep the silver LOD

another user by the name of spkrs01 or somthing... helped me with the cables thing long back .. and he had helped me contact the official baldur mk2 cable maker via gmail.

that guy said that the copper cable is for the better bass definition for the shures and the dream cable is the best for everything else.

ofcourse the dream cable is 300 dollars and with that money i can probably get a custom reshell and an added tweeter by um.

i've found my salvation in the gh-erc-dms for now and occasionally use the shures.

planning to get the tralucent t1 by jan-feb.

hope you find the best sound out of them..

I'm giving the cable some time, I'm sceptical about cable burn in, maybe see if my brain gets used to the sound

If not I might make myself a OCC copper cable.

OCC should work nicely with the SE535 as my OCC cables from DHC are arriving sometime tomorrow. Was never a fan of silver

Had a chance to hear the Shure SE535 Limited Edition (reds) today at a InMotion store. They are available for sale tomorrow ($550). They are really nice with crisper, more pronounced high end than the standard offering.. very apparent difference.  I went in looking for Westone's and damn near bought these. I like them a lot and I mean loved them. It was very hard walking out without buying them even at full boat.

They told me that they were a special offering only available at InMotion.?

Unfortunately, I only had 10 or 15 minutes with them and I had to get on a plane.. Any other impressions?

Well i have requested a SE535 Special edition red, but i dont think i will be getting one which is a shame, lets keep my fingers crossed.

But from what ive heard the highs are better on the Red version, and i would reccomend them on the build quality and general sound quality, if they sound anything like the normal with upgrade cable, then yes, i would get them.

In the mean time, im getting some Alclair reference monitors, 3 BA custom IEM, which i can compare, it is supposed to be more neutral, it wont have the Shure mids, but the high end should be better.

I did really like the Shure sound, but wanted to see what a custom for less than the price of the SE535 sounds like, and wanted to try out different sound signatures.

I will miss my SE535.

I also found out the it was my LOD that was messing up, not the silver cable, i have since made another Silver LOD, and it sounds great.

Great review randomkid.

Until last week, I have been using the SE535 (bronze) for the last 2 years. They are great universal IEM's which made it heartbreaking when I lost them last week!!

Reverting back to my old UE (single driver IEM) really made me appreciate the quality of the Shure's. I lasted 2 days with the UE before looking online for another pair of the Shures. Reading all the current reviews, i came across the SE version of the 535. Better high frequency than the standard version apparently. Well, the package today and lo and behold, my new ruby red SE535. :)

Listening to them for the last 3 hours, i can confirm that there is a difference in sound profile. The sound is more spacious, yet felt more intimate. This may be due to my use of the UE in the last few days, but I am really enjoying the SE version of the 535. In my limited experience, the superb top end, brilliant midrange and tight bass makes this one of the better universal out there.
