I guess we've all gotten involved in other stuff. It's nice outside these days (well, not right now where I am--it's raining), and I've been enjoying watching everything come into bloom. I've also done the obligatory spring cleaning, and the past few weeks I've been spending a lot of time pounding the ivories. It's amazing how much I miss it when I haven't played for awhile.

If anybody else is still out there, maybe that would be a good topic to start up the thread up again: what's everybody been up to lately?

I've been up to my eyebrows in work, work and more work. It's 7:15 PM and I'm just now getting ready to drive home. I was a bit burned out on head-fi, so I took a short break. Now I'm burned-out on everything else, so I'm trying to check back in to head-fi...

But daym, I'm concerned about this place - there's a bleeding Beats love-fest thread! Jeebus - how far we have fallen...

Good to hear from you, BB! I hear you about being burned out on HF. It really did seem to have become the same thing, over and over again. I kind of miss the trolls--they did liven things up, and in an odd way they were some of the most genuine people on HF. At least they were trying to be irritating, as opposed to the people who try to be something they aren't (e.g. knowledgeable, lucid, possessed of basic social and communication skills) and who instead just come across as annoying.

Speaking of Beats, I recently got the opportunity to try the Executive in my local Costco. It was perhaps better than I expected, though that's not saying much. Lots of mid and upper bass, recessed upper mids, hyped up mid-treble, and not much extension at either end. Overall, it sounded noticeably colored, dull, and closed in. Not worth $300, but a step in the right direction from their earlier offerings, I'd say. The sound reminded me strongly of those cheap mini-systems that pretend to offer deep bass from their 5" drivers, and since I imagine a large portion of the target market listens to its music through such systems, maybe that's what they were going for.

In my case, it just made me long for the SRH440 I'd left in the car. When a monitor headphone known for its emphatic treble has more bass extension than a consumer class bass monster can, you know you've got a problem.

Having more baaaabies. x_x. Officially done. No more children. I totally forgot what it's like to only get to sleep in intervals of 2 hours. Still on HF but I lurk more. I'm more apathetic to the community overall. Too many ppl read into posts and jump at you for the slightest things. Then when it's pointed out to them, no apologies no nothing. Like it didn't happen. Tired of that schiit. Easier to just block the idiots.

I saw that thread in the lounge. It's a freaking ad posing as a forum thread. I'm fine if it's an informative thread but there's just link after link of Beats promo video! It's not even reviews. Ugh.

I've heard the Executive as well and I agree. And the NC garbage just makes things grainy. What's the point? Even the newer Solo refresh was better than the initial one. They toned down the bass and everything wasn't as muddy but they EQd up the treble so it sounded thin and grainy. Still not paying $200 for that thing tho but at least it's an improvement.

I just found out that my friend Randy - you all know him as Achmedisdead - had a stroke yesterday afternoon. He passed away,... I never had the pleasure of meeting up with him. Now I never will. I'll miss talking to you bro. Rest In Peace.

His sister informed us today on anything but iPod.

It's a boy! My wife is outnumbered 3 to 1 now. I'm kinda relieved because now I don't have to go out and buy a shotgun. :D

I will. He was a really great person.

Thanks, I've only had brief conversations with him here on HF and from those he did seem to me to be a top notch guy.
