  Firmware only affects the OS.

Yes,generally it is true like you said.I asked because, some players's sound signatures become different after update.

Like:İbasso DX50.

This is getting silly.  Does any one know of an email for AK that they respond to for service?  Facebook maybe?  Do they only speak with retailers or something?

You have better chance getting a reply by spamming their Facebook. Not just 1 or 2 posts, but spamming even their status updates.

Not being able to contact anyone from the company.....This is what has frustrated me from the beginning, there was even an online statement that I was being too fussy....if the music sounds good live with the hiccups.  Well BS to that, I have been quiet long enough, if this was a 99 dollar player it would have been returned because the firmware sucked. It's not a 99 player and the firmware sucks.  I have 2 cards in my AK100MK2 (ver 2.30), one 64 gig and the other a 32 gig (both recommended cards).  I can not make it through a day without having to restart it numerous times because it does not see the other 2 cards.  A couple restarts and everything is back to normal until it gets powered down again.....repeat as necessary! Yes it does sound decent but there is a point.....can't someone at AK/iRiver give us an indication that anyone is home?  You have to wonder about the AK120 and 240, are they running similar firmware?  If so they better get their @#$% together cause forums like this are their bread and butter......AK, hello anyone home?

It supports even to the latest 128gb micro SD cards.
Thing is that you have to format it to FAT32 instead of using the native SDXC format.

If you only use 1 microsd card, does the problem get solved?

Many people have never experienced the issue & have had no problems whatsoever using two cards or any other issues with the device (apart from minor irritations experienced with just about every bit of electronics I've ever owned over the past 30 yrs).

+1

I very occasionally have had the device freeze, but I'm starting to think it's a particular track/tag causing the problem rather than the device or cards. It would be nice to hear from iRiver more often, but it's still such a great player when you consider size, build quality and sound.

All that said, I can completely understand how frustrating it would be to have regular issues regardless of the cause.

My problem isn't that the thing isn't perfect it's that you can't contact AK.  If you brick your unit... you can't get service.  Crack the screen... no service.  Internal memory failure... no service.  And now today...
