Hi all,
Thanks to your help, I am now a proud owner of FIIO E9 and a pair of Beyerdynamic DT880 250 ohm. They are great, and I fell asleep in front of my computer while listening to music.
I have a PS3 and really want to experience quality sound with my new setup. The PS3 has a Tritton AX Pro decoder (maybe also an amp? I am pretty new to this and the manual referred to it as the Dolby 5.1 Decoder), and I am thinking about connecting the decoder with E9 via male-male connector.
As a test, I plugged my old headphone into the back of the decoder (the standard 3.5mm? audio jack) and it worked - but is it safe to connect it with the E9? If the Tritton decoder has an amp, wouldn't it be a "double amp" setup? It sounds iffy, and I don't want to damage the headphones and the amp.
Thanks!
This is the Tritton unit's back view (my old headphone is plugged into the front channel as a test):
